Saw this article and wondered how other people think they can be mentally strong. No. 8 resonated with me as it took me a long time to get over the death of a loved one

1. They see things objectively.

2. They let go of entitlement.

3. They keep an even keel.

4. They don't aspire to be happy all the time.

5. They are realistic optimists.

6. They live in the present moment.

7. They are persistent in the pursuit of their goals.

8. They know when its time to let go.

9. They love their lives.

Anything to add that could be useful?

I think mental strength is a bit like the strength of the boughs of a tree.

But much more important for the tree is the strength of the trunk, and of the roots, and indeed of the very earth in which the tree grew.

I'd call that developmental strength.

Strength with a bit of flexibility stops brittleness, so you don't shatter.

I read the article and must say I can identify with eight of the nine points. Family and friends always have told me I am mentally strong and eventually I started to believe them.

One thing I want to add to the list is not seeking approval. I as most of us like to be liked and approved of, but any lack of it won´t stop me from doing things my way. I appreciate being appreciated, but I don't depend on it for my self esteem.

1. They see things objectively. ...Is there another way?

2. They let go of entitlement....Share it.

3. They keep an even keel....I think that;s a buzz phrase.

4. They don't aspire to be happy all the time....occasional grumps is inevitable

5. They are realistic optimists....The alternative is a bemused pessimist.

6. They live in the present moment...better to look ahead and duck when life throws one at you.

7. They are persistent in the pursuit of their goals...delete persistent and insert relentless.

8. They know when its time to let go...as soon as it is uneconomical.

9. They love their lives....of course, that's what all the above is for.

I used to have to undergo a lot of psychological profiling tests back in the nineties for the job I had then.,
I always used to come back as "Self-Actualized"
Annoying is probably another phrase though.

Keep a cool, calm, steady head in any crisis or situation

The colour,animal,water, character/personality psychometric
assessments are highly accurate too .
I was AMAZED by these ...

Choose your fave colour - then name 4 reasons why you like
this choice of colour .
Choose your favourite type of animal - then name 4 reasons
why you like this particular animal .
Choose your favourite type of water - then name 4 reasons why
you like this type of water .

The answers get psychometric assessed as to your true traits in
personailty,character,behaviour.
Very interesting and enlightening! ;)

My favourite type of water - one slightly lower than my head. Do you lose points for only one reason?

surely there is only one type of water?

Unless you count rain-, sea-, river-, lake-, puddle-, ground- as different kinds of water?

What about snow or ice, and we can't leave steam out.

To explain the 'type of water'
walking/running in the rain , short/long hot soak in a bath or refreshing quick/long shower
swim in ocean or soak in a jaquzzi , or a splash in a puddle , paddle in the sea .
april shower walks , hot steamy monsoon, swim in local/own pool etc ...

4 reasons must be given to indicate the psychometric assessments
No option with just 1,2,or 3 reasons apparently...

The tests I have seen which have a question about water are usually related to types of water. So you answer the question using either oceans, waterfalls, lakes, ponds, streams and the like.
Someone who likes a crashing waterfall such as Niagra is going to have a different personality than someone who likes Lake Windermere, the Great Barrier Reef or the Pacific.
These types of tests are designed to highlight your strengths and weaknesses based on your answers.
