Hi everyone. I recently got told that I wasn't using my insulin properly and was only having 5 injections a day, after seeing my gp I'm now on 7 injections a day. My blood has gone down and is at a reasonable level that they are happy with, but I have notice a dramatic rise in my weight, I've put on 2 stone in about 3 weeks and it's really quite upsetting. All help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Wot? To be honest that sounds a bit weird. Most of us on insulin would be on 5 or fewer injections a day or moving to a pump if control is a real problem. Are you controlling you carb intake? This is essential when on insulin if you want to avoid possible weight gain; it also minimises blood sugar swings. Why does your GP say 5 injections isn't adequate. The fact that you are on Byetta implies you may be overweight and reducing your carb intake may well be a high priority? What diet advice have you been given?

The doctor told me that I have to take my novo rapid with every meal I have. So on a morning I take Byetta and novorapid, dinner time would just be novorapid, tea time is Byetta and novorapid again and before bed it's novorapid and Lantus. I got put on the Byetta as they said it would help me lose abit of weight, I'm also doing slimming world too and I feel like giving up

Your weight gain is a lot in 3 weeks.

Can you list what food you are eating in 24hours please?

How long have you been going to WW? Have they or your GP SUGGESTED A CAUSE.

Is it actually necessary for you to eat before bed?

My last question, sorry, is the weight gain all over body?or can you see a gain perhaps just on stomach? The last part to this, sorry for this question.. Are you having any trouble with your bowel movements?i ask that because when I was suffering from blocked up bowels I could put 5lb on in literally 3 days...

Are you T2 with Byetta and added insulin?
What could be happening is that you are able to use the glucose now that your bg is better

The only way I know how to drop weight is to drop carbs which drops insulin needs
A lot of us that want to loose weight are on the lchf diet
