Hi, I have been doing lchf for over a year and have been successful in both losing weight and lowering bg but the last few weeks my bg levels have been going up and now fbg is about 8 most days. I am getting worried about this, I have tried researching PIR but it only seems to mention levels much lower than mine, it`s definitely not carb creep as if anything I`m eating even less carbs now. Does anybody have any ideas at all?

Have you ever had dawn phenomenon?

I'm only guessing because after a while your insulin resistance becomes better and maybe your liver is giving you a waking boost.

I take it your other pre meal and two hours readings are fine?

No, it`s not just the fbg the pre and post prandial are up as well. I`m wondering now if I`m fighting some kind of infection that I`m not aware of. Just done a test having walked in from work and got a 5.9! go figure.

I believe @Indy51 had something similar to this - hope you don't mind me mentioning you, Indy? Wasn't it something like a lingering tooth infection, that you were not aware of? I am sorry, I can't remember the details...

If not carb creep could it be protein or fat creep? Protein can raise BS and fats can make us insulin resistant, especially saturated and dairy. YMMV

Problem is we`ve got to eat something and, like some others on here, I don`t count carbs, fats and protein. However , I do know that what I am eating has not altered substantially in a long while except that I am eating more fish and more leafy green veg than I used to, but these have replaced other things, not eaten as well as.

Of course we need to eat...
You just said your bs is going up so you can look at all macros and see what you've changed.
Personally I set my carbs to under 20 a day, my protein at 40 divided throughout the day and fill the rest in with fats. I eat a half or whole avocado a day, mayo, nuts or seeds when snacks are required, olive oil on salads and veg.
I do count carbs ( but I know portions now so it's very simple) and I do weigh protein as it has a very profound effect on my bs but I just eat normal portions of fat and don't count or weigh them. I eat them as needed without gobbing

You remember correctly :)

Tooth extraction finally fixed the problem.

Dr Bernstein said that he finds this a lot in his practice and recommends more frequent dental checkups for his patients.

I think I can rule out dental problems in this instant but I`ve been thinking about it and realise I have had a lot of sinal fluid in my head on waking and sometimes all day, sometimes it is so bad it makes me almost deaf in one ear. Now that could well be an answer. Thank you all for trying to help :) Chris.

Yep YMMV indeed, my protein intake is at least 120g a day and as high as 180g (I'm a lifter) and has no effect on my BS levels.................Carbs tho thats another story :(
