hehe , struggling up reigate hill is a far cry from doing 100 mile stages across the Alpsid love too but..... getting fit enough for boxhill in july is enough for now
Not sure if this is of use to anyone starting out with exercise: guess I am two weeks late for most on thread, but in case there is anyone not started yet who is thinking of it but cannot get out of chair.
Disclaimer.....get medical advice before undertaking exercise
Chair based exercises
Start by doing 7 x 1 minute exercises = 7 minutes a day
Progress by increasing number of times per day or increasing time from 1 minute to two minutes as you feel able to.
1. Toe heel peddling. Lifting alternate heels off the ground
2. Arm circling. Arms out to the side at shoulder height, elbows straight with thumbs up. Make small circles, if arms get tired lower them slightly
3. Marching on the spot
4. Cross crawling. Lift right knee tap it with left hand. Alternate.
5. Double arm weight lifts. Push hands up to the ceiling out in front, down to the floor, back out in front, up to ceiling. Repeat.
6. Leg extensions straighten out your right knee, lower it slowly, alternate legs.
7. Toe heel paddling as at number 1.
Once again disclaimer ........check with doctor before starting exercise (don't want to upset any health and safety bods)
Also, don't want to infringe copyright or be accused of plagiarism so acknowledge this list of exercises was provided by physiotherapy Aintree Hospitals Trust.
Rowing machine just arrived! So first 10 minutes exercise was unpacking it and lugging the ****ing thing upstairs - fortunately there are two major parts of about equal weight, don't think I could have managed it on my own otherwise. Upstairs I found another use for the Reebok Step - something to sit down on for a rest while I have another coffee and read the manual on how to assemble it ...

Know just how you feel. My normal lovely boss is off ill long termA 45 minute walk at lunchtime was the minimum needed after a contretemps with the boss this morning. I could happily have walked all afternoon rather than go back to the office.
Sod it! You have inspired me to go for a walk now! Am in a darkness / transvision vamp mood!A 45 minute walk at lunchtime was the minimum needed after a contretemps with the boss this morning. I could happily have walked all afternoon rather than go back to the office.
