O MG.
You are all braver than me. Seriously, scary and dangerous, even though those cows look like nice gentle girls, give them a wide betth. They can gang up on you!

Well walked around a rainy Glasgow for hours but every thing acquired for daughters graduation ball on Friday.
Now a mad panic getting my case packed for Edinburgh.
I plan to walk up and down the royal mile for my exercise for the next few days.

Did my 1hr cycle. Actually just under 1hr today and finding the hills are getting a tiny bit easier.
Put on a sprint at one flat point - peddling hell for leather, only to be passed by my hubby who was free wheeling and shouting 'eat more cake' - seriously!:(
Never mind - one word springs to mind....puncture. Hehehe:p

I recon the cows had a dodgy GPS - they had probably been looking for that treasure for half an hour!;)

1hr walk round Jervaulx Abbey then a nice cup of decaff outside the cafe, having pretended that the toffee caramel tart really looked vile.

I am feeling better today, thank you.
Have already put in 30 mins walking round the shops. I was holding a supermarket trolley to stay upright, and it was slow moving. If this sounds like a cop out because it doesn't sound like exercise, please be gentle with me. I have a wheelchair that I cannot use because the good old NHS just saw fat girl with diabetes when they assessed me for it. Ignored the fact that the fat girl with diabetes was not fat and did not have diabetes when she injured her spine, making it impossible to self propel a wheelchair. I don't know anyone who has the stamina to push someone as big as me around in a wheelchair. Normally I just manage to get to places in the car, and walk very short distances with sit down breaks every few yards.

Pipp
Pipp,
What's great is that you're making an effort to do just a bit more every day - it doesn't matter what you do, every time you make the effort it's another win - and that's awesome. :)

Pipp, the fact that you keep trying is great. That's all anyone can be asked to do. Great going xx

Not sure if this is of use to anyone starting out with exercise: guess I am two weeks late for most on thread, but in case there is anyone not started yet who is thinking of it but cannot get out of chair.

Disclaimer.....get medical advice before undertaking exercise

Chair based exercises

Start by doing 7 x 1 minute exercises = 7 minutes a day
Progress by increasing number of times per day or increasing time from 1 minute to two minutes as you feel able to.

1. Toe heel peddling. Lifting alternate heels off the ground

2. Arm circling. Arms out to the side at shoulder height, elbows straight with thumbs up. Make small circles, if arms get tired lower them slightly

3. Marching on the spot

4. Cross crawling. Lift right knee tap it with left hand. Alternate.

5. Double arm weight lifts. Push hands up to the ceiling out in front, down to the floor, back out in front, up to ceiling. Repeat.

6. Leg extensions straighten out your right knee, lower it slowly, alternate legs.

7. Toe heel paddling as at number 1.

Once again disclaimer ........check with doctor before starting exercise (don't want to upset any health and safety bods)

Also, don't want to infringe copyright or be accused of plagiarism so acknowledge this list of exercises was provided by physiotherapy Aintree Hospitals Trust.

..Pipp that list is brilliant, just the sort I'm aiming at to start with.....some of the ones I found on YouTube are fine if you're a contortionist which obviously I'll be doing at the end of the 42 days.... but for the moment less strenuous ones ....:p

Back to work and the lunch hour walking today....have a great day all..

Well they helped me to get started. I was not able to stand for a while, but these have a start point sitting in a chair.

Rowing machine just arrived! So first 10 minutes exercise was unpacking it and lugging the ****ing thing upstairs - fortunately there are two major parts of about equal weight, don't think I could have managed it on my own otherwise. Upstairs I found another use for the Reebok Step - something to sit down on for a rest while I have another coffee and read the manual on how to assemble it ...

I love the rower because it's so hypnotic and I can sit on my a@@@e doing it! Well done getting it up the stairs- that's a claim for weight training today.

I went the gym this morning and everything seemed to take ages. For the first time ever in 3 months I had to have a swig of lucozade because my dawn phenomenon dropped to 4.

So here's the new Sanguine home gym (used to be my office until I moved that to a log cabin down the garden).

Equipment includes:

Rowing machine
Reebok Step (handy also for placing cold beer (sorry water) next to rower)
Old TV and VHS for watching Talking Heads, Thomas the Tank Engine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer etc whilst exercising
Vacuum cleaner for aerobic variety
PJs for dancing (not)
Carpet that needs replacing
Walls that need decorating
