All these ingredients either lower BG levels or help produce insulin, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, thin the blood and lose weight , I know there is a food section which I will post it there too but this should be used as the first tool for the newly diagnosed, so I hope this helps others too. My waking levels were around 12 with highs as much as 27 now waking are 4.7-5.2 with just a brisk walk and no drugs, I'm losing a steady 2kg a week and all my bad levels are dropping and my good ones rising.

Get a large casserole bowl and half fill with water. Add three table spoons of mild curry powder, you're not making a curry but giving the soup a tang.
Black pepper, ceylon cinnamon, apple vinegar and oregano, liberal for each and heat. You can add other herbs but check them first if mixed with medications.
Two blocks of chicken stock, sugar free kind.

Start with the harder vegs first, all chopped.

One large carrot, one large sweet potato, 5 stalks of celery.
1 beetroot, a handful of broccoli, a handful of cauliflower, two or more handfuls of mushrooms (or more if you like as they barely touch your bg levels.

1 large leek though I mainly use the white part.
2 onions, several spring onions and 1 bulb of garlic sliced thin.

1 large green and 1 large red pepper.
Quarter several tomatoes just setting them on top for the last ten minutes simmer.

Lastly add freshly cooked garlic chicken (not the processed or packaged type)

Normally I end up using a second pot as it overfills even though it's pretty big. I fill up three large tubs and add more water if I can. Two are frozen and the other in the fridge which last all week eating a small bowl morning, evening and night. Supplemented with sardines, avocados, strawberries, walnuts, almonds and pistachios.

Once you get your figures down you can branch out but this works like magic for me.

EDIT, nearly forgot also legumes, lentils, chick peas and olives and two large bell peppers red and green..

Not a problem, remember no processed vegetables or chicken in bags that you would get in a supermarket as they even add sugar to them.

I'm not a fan of vegetables at all but in soup I could live on it forever and it works.

That's fine. I get my veggies from the market stall and my chicken from the butcher. :) I adore veggies.

Yes it's a red soup, I've edited the original to add some other ingredients I forgot.

Thanks Greg. We make a lot of soups but this sounds a bit different. I am veggie so i might try this with vegetable cubes and quorn replacements, wont be quite the same i know but i will be quite happy if it just tastes a bit different to the usual ones. :)

I like quorn myself, the only meat I eat is chicken and sardines. I would switch to quorn because of the animal welfare aspect but can't afford it and sardines have B vitamins and omega 3s which because I have neuropathy I really need.

You've made me think about omegas and B vits again actually ive been a bit lax about them lately . Flaxseed oil is the main thing suggested for veggies but it is NOT nice. need to find a way of incorporating it in something . i was having a lot of Marmite for B vitamins but now my BP is up ive had to cut back on it because of the salt. Are Vit B and Omega Tabs not as good do you think?

Tablets are ok but there is debate about artificial supplements may actually be harmful. The seven seas fish oils are meant to be good and have 4000 less times less mercury than salmon, it's the same reason I eat sardines instead . I type every food into google along with diabetic or nutrition which is how I came up with that soup.

Hi Greg - I made a variant of this soup yesterday (with a few tweaks for my own personal style of eating, and also due to a couple of ingredients not being available here in Singapore.) It ended up being very, very tasty! My wife kept saying "What's that smell, it smells delicious!" Nice recipe.

I'm another that struggles eating veg except as a salad. So I have them disguised in soups. The wife does our soups. So I'll pass it on.

Thanks brdavies glad you like it. Do all let me know if it helps your figures too. I also forgot I add a little worcester sauce as well though not too much as it has added sugar. Salads are little difficult for me nosher, feel like a rabbit.

Funny you should say that, at my age I still have my gnashers. And my front ones seem to have grown over the past few years. And the wife calls me tufty!
