Dear Johnboy,
I read your long signature file at the bottom of your message and want to say something off topic for this thread - yOu seem to have some kind of definite idea of what you should weigh. One thing I was told by the nurse who gave me a test about my % bodyfat was that bodyfat of the central part of the trunk is the most important thing to watch, that BMI is irrelevant and that even the test she gave me which measured fat in the upper arm was not as good as the one where you get weighed underwater by some special machine. This machine is not available in my locale. What can get measured more definitively this way is the actual weight of your bones and that BMI does not account for this nor WHERE your fat is located. Also, that if you are on a diet, it is important to regularly test your % water so that you do not become dehydrated. A rule of thumb she gave me is that if you can lose a pound a week, then you have a pretty good metabolism but to be careful about the hydration which can give false readings as to body fat. For example, my BMI is under 22 but my bodyfat is 30%. The other factor, of course is your height. I'm 5'8" Took me a long time to get to where I am and I am still struggling with the Diabetes, so take it easy and enjoy life in the middle of your struggle. Your struggle does not define you.
