When I have eaten food I start to feel extremely tired and go in to a deep sleep and when I wake up I feel shaky and then I check my sugar and they are between 7 and 9

Could be worth testing when you start to feel very tired.
For me this happened before diagnosis, the high blood glucose made me fall asleep.

When I've checked before food their 7.1 and after food their 9.0

Before I even knew I was diabetic I would start to nod off after a meal but I very rarely had a chance to have lunch in my job so it was when I got home and what I ate that caused it

I do this with sugary food, specifically birthday cake as this is when I tend to eat sugary food I suppose, my wife described it the other day (at my mums 79th party) that it’s like I’ve drunk ten pints of beer, I can’t be woken, so she kindly refused the cake on my behalf lol. It’s weird, I can’t keep eyes open and go comatos, can’t remember bg numbers as it’s been ages since I ate cake but assume they are high, maybe we have an allergy to carbs op :(

Lol I don't eat cakes send my sugars sky high it happens if I eat wholemeal bread or other foods ‍♀️ I can't win

I had similar symptoms when I had rollercoaster blood glucose levels.
when a quick spike is followed up with a quick drop, known as a sugar crash, this can make you feel drowsy and falling asleep can happen, it you go hypo or continue to go up and down for most of the day will exacerbate the symptoms.
high carbs with high sugary drinks can cause quick spikes, the insuli n kicks in and drives the blood glucose levels down.

I dont eat whole meal bread it sends my sugars sky high :)
I get the feeling its carbs full stop with me could never eat potatoes or bread etc thought it was the gluten, same with cakes etc. I would get itchy and bloat :(

What did you eat, and how long after eating is that test result? Do you know what your level was before eating?
I had wholemeal bread with lettuce onions and cheese and mayo and it was 7.1 before eating I had my food at 7pm and at 8.15 pm I was crashing in and out of sleep so I tested at 8.35pm

I am struggling with the same thing. I doing better if I don’t eat bread, potatoes, rice etc. Try logging your food in my fitness pal. I am horrified to see that I need to keep the carbohydrate very low but can eat meat/fish/chicken/ tofu and salad . I am losing weight even though I am eating a lot of fat.

Ok thanks for your good advice

Right. So the blood sugar rise from the carbs kicked in and you crashed out.

The cheese would have slowed the level of your blood sugar rise, but the fast action of the carbs made the crash happen. I expect you continued to rise for at least another hour.

That is the thing with us, majority cannot consume carbohydrates, because the fact is, its all about diabetes. Its like people with lactose intolerance, they would avoid milk and dairy products like the plague, its the same for those people with diabetes.
