Hi! I'm not taking metformin ATM, I was prescribed initially, then started tapering off when my sugar was stabilizing by doing low carb and exercise. I asked my endo specifically if I needed metformin for pcos and told me I should take it if I wanted to get pregnant, otherwise if my sugars are okay, she would like me to be off-metformin and continue on with monitoring and lifestyle modification such as diet and exercise.
My latest ultrasound was two weeks ago, I have pcos for both ovaries so I'm currently on progesterone/pill to correct my cycle. I also had my thyroid checked, they were also low normal.
Yes, maybe you need to experiment, and try to gradually add in carbs, not exactly the ones I have mentioned but maybe the low gi ones like berries, or more veg. You've mentioned that you felt better when you added carbs to your diet, then may be eat to your meter. From zero energy now I don't feel as lethargic anymore. I felt better with a more 'balanced whole food diet' but of course watching out on the unnecessary carbs, avoiding refined/processed carbs. I also take multivitamin supplements. And my sugars are stabilized as well so it's a win- win situation. I feel good, have more energy and the numbers are also good. Experiment, try it out and check if it'll work for you. Best of luck, hopefully
Your energy levels will come back up
