Yes, there are enough clues in the DM article to give the game away.

Although I must admit the Careflight emergency helicopter clattering 30 metres above the roofs of the units we live in, to land at the base hospital two blocks away.

They are enough to give you the scours let alone T2 at times, but they have to come in that way at times so nothing to be done about it.

Look on the bright side. As one reader commented, "Yesterday, they told us that Type 2 Diabetes does not exist."

Actually I don't think its an April 1st story, just typically poor and sensationalist media reporting. It was published very late on April 1st around 10PM which isn't really right.

The actual study does seem to exist and be reported in the journal they refer to:

Reading the little bit of it I did read, its not making anything like the claims reported in the DM.

I don't see any clues in the DM story either. The names of the institutes and people involved all kind of tie up.
