Hi,
How can we rely on meters such as the one above, their limits of accuracy are very wide and could give one a false sense of security? Mine was reading c.20% low. Surely they a just indicators, poor tools at that.

When driving I will use cgm as a guideline... If it days I am 5... My pump meter will read somewhere between 6 and 7.8.
So providing my cgm stays above 5.5 when I drive I will belueve that I am safe.
At nights my cgm can say 2.9 and my pump will say 5.8. This can occur all night..... So at night I believe if my cgm reads above 3.6 then my blood reading will be above 5.

You'll just get upset and worried unless you can believe in 1 meter... Or in my case .. See below... Because my HCP's always believe cgm I.fluid readings... And they have previously caused me to worry so much..

Not anymore..
Rock on Roche

You just got to have one that you believe and can get strips for it.

I have cgm and blood pump meter... Different manufacturers... And believe ne at times the cgm to cgm blood to pump blood can be at least 100% difference between each individual reading from all 3 measurement testers.

In end..I have had to balance my thoughts.

Cgm Abbott Navigator is way, way too low and never reads anywhere near the blood readings. But it does sometimes tell me when my blood is going to go high or low.. And basic day time trends.

The Abbott Navigator cgm blood readings are higher by at least 1bg-5bg depending on levels. The higher blods go, the more elevated the readings to tbe i. fluid.. But more in line to the pump.... {within 3 bgs to accuchek pump}.

The roche combo pump is always at least 20% higher than anything to do with abbott machinery...

I used roche combo meter for 2 years before the cgm, and their neters before that and personally I believe roche more than abbott readings.

I cannot afford to worry myself sick as to which one more accurate.. I know Roche 90day overall readings are normally within .2 of hba1c.... But who says hba1c correct???

Me, I believe my Roche more.. Purely on basis that I do know the Navigator cgm intestinational readings can be totally erratic at night to their blood readings compared to my pump readings.

I have previously worried myself sick about this.. As my HCP's just looked at my cgm i. Fluid readings... And just constantly wanted to talk about the possibility of my driving licence not being allowed if I lose my hypo awareness..All because they totally believe i.fluid night time readings from Abbott Navigator cgm.

I cannot worry myself sick over tvese readings and differences... So I plumped to believe my Roche pump meter..as it always, always been within .2 higher than hba...

Rock on Roche...

Accuchek customer service is second to none.
Should you feel their products ever fall below par in my experience they've always sent free replacements and a jiffy bag to return faults for diagnostics.
I really cant fault their service.

I can ony echo the above post

What was your BG (presumably compared to a lab test you did at the same time)!

But yes, blood glucose meters are not 100% precise but for the most part they are good enough. They are more accurate at low BG (a legal requirement).
However, if you get an inaccurate meter (e.g. Navigator built-in meter always read 1mmol/l lower than my Xceed, Mobile or Contour) then you will probably end up ditching it anyway (underestimated BG => lots of false hypo alerts => user ignores hypos alerts => device is useless)

I took a reading with my Accu-chek mobile before I went off to the path lab for a test. My reading was 8.8. On my return, my reading was 8.0. When I got the lab result it was 7.6. Running the control solution test with the Accu-chek, it was at the high end of the control reange, but still within the range. I ran the control with the next cassette and the two control tests were mid range.

The ranges themselves vary from cassette box to cassette box if you look at them.

Hi,
Thank you so much for your good advice. For the time being I shall not be checking myself until I have resolved other issues.
Thanks again

It's still useful for finding out how certain foods affect you and, even if reading high or low, you can tell if one food gives a more elevated result than another. To be honest, if you do two tests on two different fingers one after the other you'll get different results.

Hi all,
Thanks for getting me to speak to Accu chek service.
I can echo what you guys said about accu chek service..it is excellent.
They sent me the calibrations solutions and I got them the next day! Very prompt!!

After checking my meter I find it is reading correctly, if fact it is reading mid range.
It must be the two meters at the surgery that nurses have that are reading high in comparison with my Accu chek mobile.

My meter reads 3.4 mmol/L on the 'blue' control solution...range 4.3 mmol/L to 2.6 mmol/L (meter giving mid range figure)

My meter reads 8.6 mmol/L on the 'red' control solution...range 10.0 mmol/L to 7.4 mmol/L (meter giving mid range figure)

regards
Derek
