24 hr fasting would be eating once a day at the same time - so for example 7pm every day. This is also known as OMAD or one meal a day.

Alternate day fasting would be eat nothing Monday - eat anything you want on Tuesday, eat nothing Wednesday, eat anything you want Thursday and so on

48 hr fasting would be for example eat at 7pm Monday, nothing Tuesday, 7pm Wednesday, nothing Thursday 7pm

I’m not recommending to you or anyone else these ways of fasting just explaining time frames etc.

also the times you do eat on any type of intermittent fasting should be dense in calories & nutrients to sustain your health, it’s important that the food you do eat is nutritious

Is it safe for you to eat like this @cdpm considering you are on insulin?
I don't understand why the description you gave for adf and 48 hour fasting aren't both eating every other day. Why is one description 48 hours and still it looks like adf?
Not being critical or whatever. I don't understand. My maths bad!!

On a 24 hr fast you eat every day at the same time - whatever time you choose

On alternated day fasting you don’t eat anything at all on the fast day - you can of course bring your eating time forward on the 3rd day to reduce your fasting window down from 48 hours - but then it wouldn’t be a 48hr fast

So alternate day fasting

Monday eat at 7pm then eat nothing
Tuesday eat nothing until -
Wednesday eat at 7pm - this will break a 48 hr fast - if you eat at 9 am on the Wednesday then it’s will break a 38 hr fast

Any time between eating is the fasting time

@cdpm, I've stopped trying to put a label on my fasting patterns... intermittent fasting, time restricted eating, alternate day fasting, one meal a day, two meals a day.. they can all describe the same and overlapping things. The label is not important as long as you know what your schedule is and that your fasting approach is helping you.

For example, I usually try to eat two meals a day, but only eat them between 13:00 and 19:00 (basically skipping breakfast and trying not to have dinner too late). Occasionally, I decide to skip a day of eating. I'll eat dinner, fast all day the next day, and then go back to two meals a day after. But I don't do it consistently and change things up by sometimes not taking a day off eating or perhaps taking two or three days off eating.

Another reason I need to do this is because my income took such a big hit when I moved this month. And it's a permanent one.
Anyway today's food day.

Been pretty hungry. But I've eaten 2 to 3000 calories at one time and still felt like I didn't eat.
So no surprises or issues yet.
I'm hungry if I eat 3x a day or 5x a day or one x a day.
No clue how this is affecting my bg as I wasn't doing this for that and not on any meds so shud not have any lows.
So onward I go I guess.

But I'm very happy with omad.
It makes me feel as though I have a little control even with high numbers.

Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
I often eat OMAD (plus coffee with cream and butter in the morning).
What I have found is that I can't seem to eat very much in this one meal (usually mid-afternoon).
Presumably my stomach has shrunk.
So the aim to get a full day's worth of nutrition in one meal can be a bit of a struggle at times.
