My wife is type2 on insulin Novomix 30 , She is a heavy smoker and her glucose levels are always high 9.0 to 16.0. the doctor has told us that her high levels are ok and smoking is no problem . This is causing a few disagreements as I am a non smoker and watch my levels carefully. WHO IS RIGHT PLEASE.
Incomprehensible!!
For be it for me to disagree with the medics, but disagree I will, assuming that's what the doctor said.
I've just completed a DESMOND course for T2s on Thursday and one specific section focuses on the heightened risk of complications for T2 smokers as being a 10 to 20 fold increase in the likelihood of chronic heart, vascular disease and stroke. That's 1000% to 2000% greater risk than a smoker who does not have T2.
Please let your wife read this post and encourage her to sign up for a DESMOND course, that will give her at least a kick-start in renewed understanding
