My grandfather has diabetes and because of this, he lost his big toe.
His blood sugar goes up and down quickly and he can not use insulin(because he is allergic). Do you know a food that can help?

As @HSSS already said it would be really helpful to know what type of diabetes he has before answering this, but what sort of foods does he eat at the moment? It is possible that reducing the carbohydrate in his diet would help him. @HSSS has a couple of very useful links at the end of her post in her signature.

There are quite a few different long and short acting insulin. If your grandfather is allergic to one, it's possibly the preservatives in it. Has he tried different ones, that have different preservatives, to see if there might be one he's ok with?

I appreciate you might not have the information but “pills” really isn’t specific enough to avoid some potentially misleading answers. Sweets will not be the only food raising his levels. All carbohydrates will to some extent not just actual sugar. That’s all colours, all types. The extent of the rise varies, as does the speed, but all carbs turn to glucose (sugar) as they digest - except fibre.

Can I suggest you have a read of the links below this message in red and gain a wider understanding of type 2 yourself and then offer to share this with your grandfather. If he’s interested you can delve deeper together. He has to want to take control for it to work
