Until recently I was consuming around 100 g to 200 g of ground almonds daily. I made waffles/ bread from them , so they were always 'cooked/heated'. Over the months of eating them I gradually noticed an increased number of strange bowel movements until they became a daily (unpleasant) event. They could last 30 mins in the worse case and it was not diarrhea.
I stumbled upon a site that noted Almonds can be toxic and can have unpleasant gastric effects. It was also noted that the fats in Almonds became 'unstable' when heated.
I stopped eating them this week and haven';t had any stomach problems since. Anyone else experience problems with Almonds ? I guess I was eating too large a quantity and will have to mix almond flour with flax seed in the future, I can't do without my waffles much longer :-(
