Honestly, I know everyone gets down about diabetes. Admit it. Old or young. And really I really am having a **** tome with it too.

Sick of doing my levels every five minutes and an injection before every single meal. It's like playing a DVD over and over again, a novelty at first but then you just get so sick of it and decide to change It

The problem is that you can't change Dr I diabetes can you? Type 1 anyway... I wish u could go back to when I was born and relive life till the age of six again normally. I wish I was diagnose dc younger so that I didn't know life before. But unfortunately you can't time travel either. Anyone else have the same problem?

Hello @DiabeticSweety Welcome to the forum ;)

Sorry to hear you're feeling down about it. yes it's an endless cycle of events, and to me it sounds like you're suffering from 'burnout', which other members have posted about in type 1. It's fair to say you are amongst your most sympathetic friends here as we all understand. My personal advice is to try and find a different way of managing, maybe try a libre if you can afford to, something that may re-inspire you to not feel so down, maybe have a chat with your team ?

How is your control in general are you on top of things ?

I coped well when diagnosed, just got on with it, but it was a very emotional and difficult year. The past few years have hit me hard with many horrible things going on in my life, but I am still here and with continue to fight, even though at times it was so hard to see the light. Sending a virtual hug to you, as many have gone through very similar feelings, take care x

I know this might make me sound a bit greedy, but I completely focus on what I'm about to eat. So, I just do the testing and carb counting and bolusing (I'm on a pump) almost automatically. That is, I don't let it linger in my mind. I think about what I'm about to eat, and what I'm going to do after I've eaten. I pay attention to my test result and what I'm doing, of course, but I put it secondary, as a chore not something that I need to engage with emotionally.

I probably haven't explained that very well! I mean I make things routine so they don't intrude into my life too much.

Yes, diabetes is wearing sometimes. It's hard not to have a break from it, especially when you have other things going on in your life. i think everyone goes through periods of feeling completely fed up with the whole thing. Do moan her as much as you want. I find it helps enormously to talk to people who understand - really understand.

When I'm feeling fed up with it, I like to think that the day I've just got through with testing and boluses, etc, etc is one day closer to a cure :)

Keep going and think about the good things in your life and your plans for the future. Don't let diabetes steal your hopes and your dreams.

Hi @DiabeticSweety

It's just a matter of "light & shade"..
Life would be boring if it was interesting all the time...?!

Yep I weigh up the carb count test, then bolus accordingly. Then i can enjoy the meal & the witty repartee..?

Before finally getting down to the "fun" of washing up..;)

Have a look through the "Scream" thread @DiabeticSweety, it's a great help for times when things get on top of us. Scream as loud and as often as you want ! Plenty of folks on here who will know what you mean, and can empathise with your plight. Hope you're feeling better now :)
