@Salvia I've only seen the Hass variety too. Interesting that your Sainsbury's avocados were from Colombia. I've only seen Peruvian avocados in my local Sainsburys, I've tried them and they have varied, the Waitrose ones are usually better and more consistent. I'll watch out for the Colombian ones and give them a try if they get any in.
Let us know what the Aldi Tanzanian one is like. There is an Aldi not too far away from me.

Will do on the Tanzanian ones. I haven't located a Waitrose within reasonable driving distance, but will keep looking (though I don't propose to scout around any great distances!)

I went to Waitrose this morning to replenish my avocado stocks. No Mexican avocados today. But they did have some loose 'ripen at home' South African avos, and the big avocados were from South Africa too. They had 6 packs of those little avos too, from Peru.
I got some ready to eat Peru avocados, and one South African 'ripen at home' avocado to see if that is any different.
I got my ocado delivery today which included 2 x 2 "perfectly ripe " avocados - 2 good sozed Peuvian Hass avocados, did what they said on the tin ie perfect

On the local (Wide Bay) channel 7 news last night, the local avocado producers have received a $1.5 million grant from the Qld. government to improve the growing time of seedlings.

Instead of waiting 18 months to grow a plant from seed, they are now experimenting with cuttings as this reduces the time the plants need to get established and plant out.

This grant was given out because there is a world wide shortage of Avo's and a large export market to satisfy.

Yeah I had one of mine last night and it was just right. That's why I like Waitrose avocados, they are almost always perfect.
There is a Sainsburys near where I live where I get most of my groceries, but I walk two miles to Waitrose every 4-5 days to replenish my avocado stash.

HA!!
I'm quite curious as to how those egg sized ones are. They would be so portable but I'd need a whole one every time I ate

Sure would be nice for people who don't like a whole one a day an dend up tossing the rest.

After seeing my Lane hubby wants a whole one now. Might have to take out a second mortgage!!!

Well I had the South African avocado tonight after letting it ripen for three days. It was good, bit more of a delicate taste than the Peru avos. It tasted more like the Mexican avos. Quite firm, maybe could have done with another day to ripen.
The seed is smaller and more elongated than the rounder seeds in the Peruvian and Mexican avocados.
I will buy them again if I see them in Waitrose.

Lesson.earned today.
I did an experiment with my 2 part lunch. The first one I just ate cold lamb chop with mayo. NO AVO if you can believe that. Me I was hungry within 20 min. Bs was steady but prot in alone does some kind of bickering. Testing again at two hours but I will certainly be adding avo!!!
I'm never hungry after my first lunch. The power

I got my cholesterol report in the mail today from the lab with EXCELLENT hand written next to HDL and ldl. The last time I got a written report card was high school and to the best of my recollection excellent was never used. Haha

Haha. Me too. Or 'detention '!!

Experiment was a no go. Spiked much more than without avo even using same amount of protein. I always drop a bit of just avo. And if it's just avo it should usually more.

I love food porn!!

Now you're all going to think I'm even nuttier

Last night we ate out as it got too late to go home. Hubby had a bunless burger with bacon and soft fried egg. I had a few bites and ordered avo slices !!! There was no charge on the bill!! Even better.

I really wasn't hungry so it worked out beautifully.

No more experiments without it.

It's getting harder to find MX. Mostly Peru. Maybe their growing season is better now.

I still have a load from Aldi. CHEAP AND GORGEOUS

They look great. Nice assortment for staging. Ours went up too. $3.50 each at one store I get them but only $1.19 at Aldi. I'll stick there until I can't.

I always bought mine from Costco warehouse and used to be always MX and 4.99 for 6 LARGE ones and now peru forever and $8. Costco always has great fresh food so thinking perus season must be better now.
