Type of diabetes
Type 2
hi all.
I Am posting this as Ade. Even though I am actually his wife lolly.
Have just been with my hubby for his 3 monthly diabetes check up.
Our lovely nurse wanted to check he was the same person and not a clone or substitute.
A bit if history hubby has been type 2 for nearly 10 years. And had lots of ups and downs in that time. But his bloods were never that good. So much so he was on metaformin and exenertide. (Injection). And at last check up his blood test came back worse than ever. And they were going to put him on insulin. But we're going to try one more tablet. And today was going to be crunch.
Well after that appointment I was tasked with "sorting him out". (By hubby). So we joined up here and started in the HFLC diet.
3 months down the line. And all his results are perfect. His H1b thing is right down. (I want to say it was 6. But she has 2 numbers on her chart so it confuses me). Both BP and cholesterol are spot on. And he's lost a little weight. (Every little helps). The nurse couldn't believe it. And said she would hale him as a success throughout the surgery. And asked what we had changed.
So I explained the diet and all of you lovely people on here.
(She's coming to check it out herself and hopes the results filter to them to become the standard)

So although between hubby and myself we have only lurked and learned from you all. I want to say thank you.
All who have posted have helped us hugely

(And I hope I've posted this right and in the right bit)

Well done to both of you!
- and especially for introduvcing you nurse to a different way of doing things.
- imagine the beneficial effect on all her T2 patients if she started suggesting they read this forum like you did!

cONGRATULATIONS :D:D:D

Well done to your husband for his reductions, and to you for 'sorting him out! :)
And good work in pointing the DN to this forum, let's hope she does come here and realises the benefits of LCHF.

You're lucky that you've got a spouse that does what they're told. It's so lovely that he trusted you and went along with it, I must admit to feeling a little emotional when I read posts like yours. My wife joined me on the LHCF journey out of solidarity and to help support me by not having carbs around, but she's glad she did now as she's lost weight too. Don't know whether his level was 6% or 6mmol/l but either is very good.

My nurse was also pleased and amazed with my results just from 3 months of LCHF, and wanted to know by what miracle it had happened. It's so important we give them the feedback. Previous to this, she'd sent me on a course and asked if was that helped. It did, but not in the way she imagined - it depressed the hell out of me to see so many people there further along the road to decline than me, eating crisps and sweets and full-sugar soft drinks. It feels so good to have taken control.

Thank you for your kind words.
Sometimes I think I'm more like an interpreter. He asks the question and I have to find out the answer. We have all started following the hflc diet. And it has done all of us wonders. Although we haven't lost much weight we do have more energy. And to show I would give up something I gave up smoking 3 months ago as well. We shall keep on this path. I want to keep him (and me) healthy for a long time.

Well done both of you!! Great teamwork...

Fantastic!! It great that you have each other. Makes it so much easier when you have a a cheering squad.
My hubby isn't low carb but supports me and encourages me as I try new things and cook new meals.

Great job, both of you! Plus stopping smoking - you have done so much for your health!

Wow! Very well done to you and your hubby and I'm so glad your nurse was interested in what had changed. Thanks so much for letting us know :)

Very, very well done to you both on your joint effort. I bet you both feel like you're walking on air, and an additional well do to you for giving up smoking too!
