FOOTBALL. MY husband is a sports fanatic and watches everything. Most i can put up with just not football.
Hi, for some reason my sugars have gone to 15.8 and I'm starting to feel thirsty. Would it be possible to take an extra pill? I am on the max sitigliptin and glucophage. Just wondering if anyone has done it and what could happen?

If you look at the packet, you'll probably see a little line saying "do not exceed the stated dose".

No-one here is going to tell you to overdose on prescription meds.

What did you eat to put you up 16?

As borofergie says, nobody here will sanction an overdose.
Try and keep active and drink water to flush out the sugar. You do not say when you took the reading. Keep an eye on your readings and if they continue to climb then you should ring NHS direct or your out of hours G.P. or A@E if it continues to climb.

I know what is sez and i wasn't asking for someone to tell me to overdose. I was asking if any one has done it coz i was considering it. If someone had done it they could've said what happened to them. It is only ONE pill after all so how much damage could one pill do. I had scrambled egg on soya and linseed toast, tin tomatoes. I took it an hour ago. My sugar levels.

I haven't tested. Same reason as others. Nurse says not to because of the costs and i cant afford to buy any. I have been doing random testing though since being on sitigliptin and most times they have been good. between 5.5 and 8. ish. It seems to be a pattern. When on gliclizide i started off responding well then after a while it would go higher. I want to be able to stay on sitigliptin because it stems my appetite ware as the gliclizide made me feel hungry all the time and even after eating it wouldn't be long til i felt hungry again

Your levels could have been high before you ate that meal then.
What about the new meter that has been talked about here? Could you afford that? Every Type2 here knows the necessity of testing but nobody seems to want to help us. The same old thing, the cost. I do feel for you if you cannot afford it but don't know the answer. Early days are so crucial in getting it right.

I have heard that it can take about a year to get the meds right. Just hate having to go through the effects getting there

Like Catherine says, drink some water, and burn a test or two, and steer clear of the carbs for a while.

If your BG is heading downwards, you can relax a bit, if it's heading upwards get on the phone to NHS direct.

Thank you. Just feeling really down about it. Scared of going through everything i went through before. I think i got a little depression going on and cant even have a bar of choc as a pick me up.

 dont know  :?:

Hi. I think you will find that like me you are on the limit of pills and you musn't go beyond max dose; higher doses have diminishing returns anyway. My Gliclazide don't really do much anymore and as you suggest Gliclazide stopped working for you as well. Sitagliptin is one of the better drugs around. Don't forget you can get discounted strips off the web VAT free if you look around. I assume you are low-carbing? How old are you? If you are still fairly young it's possible you have a T1 variant which would mean moving onto insulin at some point; same for T2 if the readings get higher. Do try to discuss with your surgery if they are open to sensible discussion

borofergie are you reffering to my op? Daibell I got to see the doc on wednesday to see if I'm T1.5 . I just clicked. I think i know what is happening to me right now. I keep getting pancreatitis and as i've been sat here i keep getting the pains. I have to have blood test for that on wedesday as well. I forgot all about that. Sorry people for winging.

That probably means there gonna take me of it. Just my luck  Have you heard about any others that does'nt make you put on weight? I know i probably wont get a choice but i'd like to be able to make a suggestion.

my best friend died 6 years ago from pancreatitis. She was a big girl, 5ft 10 and size 34. I think the doctors kept fobbing her off when she would complain about her pains. She was in hospital for 7 months and appeared to be getting better so she got transferred to our little local hospital. A couple of days after i last saw her, her husband rang me to tell me she had died and she had blood coming out of her eyes ears nose and mouth. Because of her size and her husband had a bad motorbike accident they were told they might not be able to have kids. When she died she left a beautiful little girl behind.

Well you've been warned then about what happens if you don't take control of your own health. It's time to grow some sharp elbows and get down the Doctors and persuade her (or him) that they need to take your condition seriously.

I'm pretty sure that it's not these pills thats caused the problem. Before diagnosed i told the doctori had pain there. it was dismissed. Seen different doc after that she put it down to the metformin and gave me anti sickness pills. Went back another time and was told it was my liver. When i was taken into hospital with pains they found a gallstone. I've had them before and new it wasn't that playing up. It was on the wrong side. It was just a coinsidence that they found gallstone. I will tell them i need to come off them now as the meds are making it worse. I'll just have to have a tantrum to get them to listen to me.
