The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
Hi, well I am awaiting my results of the latest hbac1 - mix up with Surgery that has left me seething to be honest. Receptionist said everything was normal - normal for a type 2 I ask myself -that really narrows it down!? My cholesterol was abnormally high but to be expected. No indication of BG levels etc. I have asked them to email a full breakdown as was done previously - and as for no further action, what the hell does that mean
On the plus side I have come off my BP meds as I was getting good readings and GP was over the moon and shocked but in a nice way! Seems like the Surgery do not care now as my weight has dropped to just under 10.5 now and I have a BMI of 24.1 although I am sceptical of the BMI and any NHS related to type 2
As I have yet to find out my overall results, are they any pointers that I can bear in mind relating to reducing my Cholesterol without going completely stir crazy hungry on low carb. I have been eating a shed load of cheese which I normally do not do, do I cut down on fats?

My readings are in the 6 to 7s now so I must be doing something right

It's just a standard response from a receptionist, I wouldn't get angry over this, they're not having a pop at you. Just take a deep breath stay calm and ask for a print out of your results but no need to lose your temper over it.

I'd agree that it is frustrating to have unclear communications but honestly your results seem great with the proof being that you've been de prescribed bp meds and have a normal weight with near normal blood glucose levels.
No further action normally means that you don't need treatment or follow up tests for something.
As for cholesterol, if your general metabolic health as improved (waist size down, bp down, blood sugars down, hdl/triglycerides ratio -check when you see the results) then you are much less at risk of heart disease than when you started this process. The LDL which is shown on the result may be elevated but it is likely that it is the large fluffy and benign kind rather than the artery damaging small dense kind . The UK test does not differentiate but in the context of the other markers I would think carefully about the need to reduce this with a statin.
You could always balance out the dairy fat (cheese) with some mixed nuts or olives perhaps if you're getting hungry.

Alternatively if you were to go for a calcium scan this would give you information on the actual state of any arterial disease in your body.

The cheap man's version of all this remains trig/hdl alongside the other indicators previously mentioned.
 
Hi. Make sure your surgery is looking at your lipids breakdown e.g. LDL, HDL, Trig etc and not your total the latter being mostly irrelevant. Do get yourself added to your surgeries online system including your test results. You have a right to these and the NHS has told surgeries they must allow access unless there are mental health issues.
 
Hi all and thanks for the advice its much appreciated. I have the results my hbac1 looks to be 59 (48 is what we are aiming for) Was 66 3 months ago so getting there. The other tests were very alarming and sent my bp sky high to be honest as I don't understand them. Here is a snap shot, speaking to the surgery tomorrow

Serum total cholesterol level (XaJe9) 7.4 mmol/L
Serum HDL cholesterol level (44P5.) 1.5 mmol/L
Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio (XaEUq) 4.9
Serum non high density lipoprotein cholesterol level (XabE1) 5.9 mmol - I take it it means my Cholesterol has risen it was 6.6 before. But I refuse to take a statin and will cut back on the fats etc.

Urine albumin level (XE2eI) < 3.0 mg/L [< 20.0]
Urine creatinine level (XE2qO) 3.5 mmol/L [2.6 - 20.0]
Urine albumin/creatinine ratio (XE2n3) < 3.0 mg/mmol Creat. [< 3.0] - Bit concerned at this as that amount is bad I think.
 
You have your results now, so too late for this time but all English surgeries are supposed to be set up to allow patients on line access to their results. I have and I can check the results for myself before seeing any HCP.
I just hope the surgery don’t see how many times I log in in the few days following the blood draw, I’m so impatient!

This just means anything that is not hdl. So it’s fallen not risen.

By the way Lainie, I think the BMI is nonsense. Virtually every personal trainer in the country is fat according to the BMI, as they have a lot of muscle.
What makes more sense is waist-to-height ratio. To be in shape, your waist should be half your height or less. Eg if you're 6 foot, then that's 72 inches. So your waist circumference (at the belly button level, without excessively breathing in or out) should be max 36 inches. This makes a lot more sense than the BMI - and is exactly how the human eye assesses whether someone is fat or not.
