any thoughts on what i can do?

DIABETES, I should be kicking it’s **** but it’s got a hold on me and can’t get out.
I have recently been diagnosed as T2, was put straight onto metformin M/R which I told them my stomach couldn't tolerate but they told me i had to take it anyway, after a couple weeks I couldn't take that because it gave me terrible stomach pains and cramps.
Then they decide I had to take Glicazide but this made me question the point of life due to it making me extremely tired and unable to function normally so I stopped these too..... now because I'm not doing as I'm told they are just ignoring my requests for any help!!
What do people think the reasonable way forward is?
My bloods sugars are ranging between 15 and 24.1... any ideas greatfully received. X

Hi Charlotte. It's a real rough ride at the start after diagnosis. I was diagnosed in July and although I've had a tough time with the GP surgery, it's not any comparison to yours. Don't let conflict with medical professionals make you give up, you're worth more than that. There's very little support from the GP, they just throw tablets at the problem, but the information you need is out there and this forum is an amazing resource that's changed my life.

A couple of questions, if I may?

1) Do you know what your hba1c result was?

2) Do you track what food you're eating every day, either in an app, or on paper?

3) When are you testing?

If you haven't already, please consider reading @JoKalsbeek's blog post she linked to. When I was feeling disheartened and defeated at the very beginning, reading it suddenly made a lot of things make sense.

Have you tried Metformin Slow Release? I am on that and generally been ok.

Me too. I did have a bit of a rummbly tummy at first but it was much better taken with food and after a couple of weeks I had no side effects at all, now I don’t have to take it with food.

Hi, I'm was taking the slow release ones, I mistakenly wrote M/R instead of S/R oops... diabetes is ruling me, not the other way round way at the moment.

I have digestive issues and they made my stomach so much worse and couldn't take the being on the loo 10 times a day.
 
So what does your food look like on a daily basis? Give us some details and we can make some suggestions to try. Honestly food is as powerful if not more so than medication as a type 2. Yes it will involve change but then we want and need change.
