So the other day went out had a few drinks and realised BGL was floating around 13-14 for some complete unknown reason so thought sod it took 50% of the usual correction dose as I was drinking (my drinks are usually a whisky on ice so NO carbs) anyway this and a walk from the bar to the club bough me down to about 7.

At the club mates decided to eat around 11pm so I ended up having poached egg salad some lamb chops with rocket and some kinda leafy salad probably about 10g carbs for this I took no insulin watched the CGM through the night whist on the ole whiskies and tequila then boom about 2hours later I see the protein rise starting to kick in, I guess in my drunken state that the protein for that meal was about 60g so go into the toilets and take 3u.

Rest of the the night I was around 4-6, get home around 5am and it's showing 4.9 and slowly dropping so I decided to have toast with the PB and go to bed.

Wake up at 7am work work and level are 5.5 and stable.

Thats because you monitored and ate otherwise you would have had a nasty hypo.

Anyone ever posted on these boards while drunk ? (I certainly have. :). It makes typos much more likely).

It sounds like the combination of a cgm and your management means you tackled the whole evening perfectly. (Which cgm do you use, BTW? Libre doesn;t work for me so am contemplating dexcom G5). Personally I find that drinking removes my dawn phenomena issues but it's not really a valid long or short term solution....)

I use a Libre and I would defo NOT have injected without using the CGM, also this sensor has been spot on. The issue with the Libre is that some sensors can be off, I usually do random spot checks.

Unfortunately there are quite a few of us who become allergic to the libre sensors - in my case this happened after 8 months and coincided with readings which became completely inaccurate (think continuous readings of LO when your blood sugar is normal). I could live with the rash but not the fluctuating readings :(. But if you do the spot checks you should pick up any issues with sensors or allergies. Well done for having a system that works. (I miss my libre, sigh, but after half a dozen hopeless sensors I had to admit defeat.)

Hi @O_DP_T1 I think you did an excellent job of managing it under the circumstances, the only issue with drinking alcohol is the margin for error from either miscalculating carbs/insulin doses but as you managed to do this and stay in range then you did well. Personally from experience if i've been out for the night i've aimed to run high so if dancing is involved then i've got some flexibility and always finished the night with carbs, so I can correct any high the morning after rather than run the risk of going low during the night.

Yes I have injected whilst drunk. Lantus frequently (I cut back by about 10% or was that %01). As I'm a good diabetic (most of the time) and mainly drink Scotch I don't worry about carbs as I eat before drinking, never after. Now I'm on a pump with CGM anything goes. I don't mind going a bit high as according to the alcohol industry I have a serious drinking problem as I rarely get drunk (3 times a year) and only average 1 standard drink every couple of weeks for the rest of the year.
No I haven't posted here drunk.

I became allergic to Libre faulty sensors and appalling, sorry NO customer service. Medtronic Enlite is much cheaper after discounting the faulty Libre Sensors 4 out of 11 sensors failed one in less than a day the rest in less than a week.

Well, I can't really drink, so I'm never drunk, but after one very late night with little sleep, I switched my basal and bolus insulin doses. That was pretty hysterical.
