I have an MRI scan coming up. So I have a daft question and I'd rather ask you lot first.
The trace drink thing (technical term) doesit have carbs in? Will I have to carb count it and inject for it?

I had an MRI last year. I do not believe trace drink affected my BG ... although I was a little stressed and I had to disconnect my pump, so my BG rose anyway.

And, that was not a daft question.

@Diakat - have you had one before? If not, just be aware that they’re quite noisy, so it’s worth wearing earplugs - they may have some there but it’s always worth chucking a pair in your pocket. I always think they sound like listening to Hawkwind with your head up a Dalek...

I am not sure if I had a MRI but I have had three CT scans, one with tablets (no idea what they we for), one without tablets.

One with a specialised bit on the front of the machine with just my head and neck in it at the nuclear medicine unit at a private hospital, where they injected some radio active dye for checking out my thyroid.

Sorry that has no reference to your question re carbs.

I might still be laughing at that description so perhaps lying still will be the problem and not the noise! First time, hence questions.

I have had several MRI's and CT scans the last one with tracer the tracer was injected none of the scans I have had significantly altered my BG levels.

The info says s drink but I think it has a radioactive label in it.

As a Hawkwind fan I rather like the sound of that... though probably just stick to the CD/albums.. and keep my head to myself....:)

@Diakat , spooky, that this subject came up..
I was having a conversation with my wife just over an hour ago about MRI scans.. (Actually! It was lead on from a Star Trek tech conversation about the development of voice recognition & hypo sprays.)
Basically it was her friend that had one recently who suffered from claustrophobia. My wife also had one years ago but didn't mention a drink..

Why not ask the HCPs at the unit doing the scan about the carb content?

Will do, they should know.

Years ago my gran had to stop an MRI because she could not stand the "banging". She had just suffered a mini stroke though. I've always liked. Bit of Motorhead ( We after the roadcrew - anyone?)

They played at a bike rally I was at, and the noise was intolerable, so I put my crash helmet on... there’s something about the frequencies they employ that triggers some serious pain in my head. Just Hawkwind, no other bands. It’s really strange.

When I had an MRI I was given a choice of listening to classical, pop, or jazz music through the headphones provided. I thought pop might be better than nothing so was rather surprised to find that the pop selection mostly consisted of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley!! - maybe they had no musical knowledge to start with or maybe listening to Hawkwind inside a dalek noise on a daily basis had completely scrambled the brains of those working in the MRI suite

I was given the choice of taking my own CD in which they played over the sound system for me as I recall I took one of my Hawkwind albums in but there were no daleks present.
