Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

Hi I have been using Libre 2+ for 2/3 months and have recently moved to Omnipod 5 Closed loop.

I find it consistently reads between 1 - 2 mmol lower than a finger prick. Hence it alarms with supposed lows but in reality I am not. For example libre alarmed at 05.00 this morning saying 3.5 when a finger prick was 7.7.
I am on Omnipod 5 Closed Loop and Libre2+. I have the same problem with low readings 3.2 arrow pointing down during night with alarm going off but finger prick shows 6.6 I ask them to send me a report on failed sensors which I send back but so far no reply

Continuing the Libre 2 Plus issues, has anyone found after the latest LibreLink app update that the event logs don't record much now? I know via other apps that the sensor is not reading any values some times, 1 hour or more. Before the update the event log filled up regularly with Glucose Reading Paused, 373,P events, now it almost appears not to work....

The updated Libre app loses contact with the sensor.
I rang Libre, thinking it was the fault of the sensor, and the person I spoke with said it was the app and they’d provide me with a reader.
I was astonished that Libre were using a LibreLink app that wasn’t fit for purpose. Unfortunately I’d already started a new sensor.
Do I sacrifice this current sensor and start a new one with the reader?

I've had a problem with my last three 2+ sensors. First one underread lots of the time, second kept losing connection and wouldn't update when scanned. I then took a break. This week I started again. Last night whether lying down or sat up it was reading 3.6 vs 7.1 finger prick, 3.7 vs 6.5 and 3.2 vs 5.8. I've had to turn the low alarm off or I wouldn't get any sleep. Really unsure what to do next.

if consistantly reading lower you could lower your alarm rather than turning it off totally? i set mine lower, however check several times that it is showing at least by somewhat consistant amount and do check via finger pricks after applying new sensors. lowest setting allows is 3.3mmol/L for its alarms.

Report widely differing readings to abbotts taking into account delay, have had a few sensors replaced without issue, i've had to return the faulty ones - prepaid envelope sent with the replacement.

I have generally had good performance from mine (I believe), but your query prompted me to check against finger-prick just now - at the higher range (just had breakfast..so a spike) there was only 1% error, but I will check more. I have found that the A1C1 estimate is generally lower than blood tests but my dr explained that it was due to the blood test being 3month average vs the 2week avg from libre. Another factor is that if you lie on your side that you are wearing the sensor it can affect it a lot. I have found that wearing it on the back of my arm vs the side of my arm has improved that a lot (and I also haven't banged/lost any sensors since doing that - before I was losing them now and again catching them on a door frame or when removing clothes...but always replaced by Abbott without an issue when that happened).

I've been reading this thread and see a lot of people say they've had accuracy or other problems, but they always seem to be complaining it reads too low. Do these things ever read too high?

The reason I ask is this. I'm a self-funding T2 and was at last HbA1C well-managed. Because of the cost I just get a sensor every now and then to make sure I'm still on track and to motivate me to reverse any backsliding that has happened. They've always been Libre 2's until this one. I don't have a pin-prick monitor but will get one.

It read a little higher on average than last time but I figured that was Christmas backsliding and it probably was. But last night my levels went crazy. From usually in range and maybe the very occasional spike up to 12, it was reading 20+. And staying up there. I don't think in all the times I've used the 2's it hit higher than 18 or 19 and those were notable and big lapses I learned from and also came down very quickly!

This spike was in the early hours of the morning at least eight hours after last eating anything and that was just a small portion of fruit. The last actual meal was around 2pm the day before. I'm familiar with the normal pre-awaking rise but this is unprecedented by a massive degree. In a bit of a panic I went for a very long walk - several hours. It went up and down but mostly just continued rising even more reaching around 23. I've probably used sensors around six or seven times before now. Never been so high. Last HbA1C was 53 iirc. No other symptoms like thirst or need to urinate. A mild headache but possibly just because I've responded to this by not eating, afraid of pushing it higher.

This was the last day of the sensor so it's stopped now and I've ordered another but wont be here until Monday.

I know this is the Type I forum, so apologies for this, but I'm really asking if the monitor could be in error. It's just so massively out from normal and no trigger for it I can see. They obviously read too low sometimes, but is too high also a thing?

can be lower or higher or anynwhere in between. same as fingerprick can also read lower/higher and both cgm and blood glucose have acceptable error margins. eg venus sample 10 anywhere between 8.5 to 11.5 is acceptable ISO 15197:2013 /15197:2015.

https://pro.freestyle.abbott/uk-en/...re-systems/freestyle-libre-2-plus-sensor.html

91% overall glucose readings within ±20%, exceeding strictest regulated standards for accuracy3-5 ie 10mmol would be 8mmol and 12mmol as acceptedable.

see above page for more info. if you have fingerpricks consistantly out (when graph is flat) if you let abbotts know they will send you a replacement (take into account delay 10-15 mins).

Hi @T2_not_the_movie , welcome to the forum.

If those readings are completely different from what you'd expect based on experience, I'd write it off as most likely a sensor error.
Good thing you are getting a finger prick meter to double check.

@Rachox has an up to date list of cost efficient meters in the UK, if you haven't decided on a brand yet.
