Obviously diabetics have a slower rate of healing. Does anyone take any vitamins or collagen for this?

No. I know we're supposed to heal slower but - touch wood - I've never found that. I do try to keep my blood sugar as much in range as possible though, and I think that's most important, in my opinion.

I take some vitamins but they're for general health :)

No I don't find that I heal slowly, the only supplement I take is a High Strength Cod Liver Oil.

Just curious.. But what does that do for you? :)

Long story, around 25 years ago I broke my ankle quite badly and dislocated it, they straightened it in A & E but the bones didn't knit together correctly. The Orthopaedic surgeon I seen said they re-break the joint and reset it, as I'd just bought a house I wasn't keen on being in plaster again so refused, the surgeon then went on to say I'd likely get arthritis in the joint by the time I was 30 and recommended taking a CLO supplement, he was a great believer in the benefits of CLO and took a supplement himself.

I never did get arthritis in the joint but was this down to the CLO supplement I cannot say, but I first took it in a capsule form and around 5 - 6 years ago started taking it off the spoon (10ml), it's also said to help with cholesterol levels to which I've never had a problem with.

I run my blood sugars in the non-diabetic range and aim to be under 5.5 mmol at all times. I don't have a slower rate of healing. If I have understood correctly the slower rate of healing applies if your BS is too high.

I've definitely noticed a difference in the rate of healing when my blood sugars are all over the place but when they are well controlled, there is little difference. Definitely motivates me to keep good control having seen how it affects how my body is able to heal! I also take Cod Liver Oil :)

Yep healing can take longer, when i broke both my tibula & fibula it took just over four months for the bones to infuse which was a month longer than expected, this was whilst keeping my blood sugars low.

I take supplements for general health but doubt it would improve healing time.
