Appalling piece of journalism

The woman in the photo looks like she is munching on a bar of Dairy Milk. The 85% Aldi chocolate I eat is almost black.

im of to asda to buy choccky and wine by the trolley full choclate for breakfast dinner and tea and wine by the bucket full yippeee ... what fun night im going to have hahhaha

I like the quote from Dr Alasdair Rankin. I must remember NOT to donate to DUK's research funds. So red wine is a problem for diabetics; Wot? So what's wrong with 85% dark chocolate? What is a 'Normal Healthy' diet.

I think that will be the one with lots of low-GI carbs, piles of fruit and root veg and as little fat as possible. The 'normal healthy diet' I believed was good for me and followed for years while blaming myself for not being able to lose weight. The very same one that made me diabetic and carried on making it worse until the day I discovered this forum and learned about low carb dieting.

(Good news - 19kg lost in 3 months, fasting BG never above 5.2, cholesterol down to lower-end of normal and no sign of the proteinuria that was worrying me in October 2013. Enjoying bacon and cheese, not missing sugar and spuds in the least!)

"High-cacao percentage chocolate has helpful flavonoids"

"onions, apples, berries, kale, and broccoli
parsley, thyme, and celery, and anthocyanins, found in berries, red grapes, wine and other red or blue coloured fruits and vegetables"

"people should eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables such as berries, apples and pears, but should limit intake of red wine and chocolate"

Must admit, I haven't had a pear for a while, but that's only because I'm not that keen on them, I prefer apples.
And I hate celery.

Otherwise, pretty much spot on for what I eat, including having limits on chocolate and wine.

How about an onion and dark choccky finger-sandwich!:hilarious:LOL

I believe that flavonoids work well for lowering BG levels. (Some of the flavonoid combos might be a little strange, though.).
