I don't see anything like what you're seeing! The sites way too heavy for me so far.
Everyone seems terrified, not just fearful.
Maybe I can find something useful, but it does seem to be the onus is always follow the religion with the fear of god if you don't.
I'll see if I find anything that helps, but it hasn't much changed since the last post.
I don't see anything like what you're seeing!
I guess you're not a newbie.
I swear I even saw one post that said someone went out with boiled eggs, in case they couldn't get food, and their BG rose to over 6 or 7 or something, and they suffered major consequences.
And an absolute fear of eating a carb and having cravings that they couldn't control after?
Others utterly terrified of BG rising something like 2 points?
Try being a newbie seeing 7 as a target to get down to, and if dedicated long termers on here can't control themselves day to day what chance have I?

Control the diabetes, but its than live in complete fear every day of BG rising, and never going out anywhere unless I pack enough food in case I need to eat anywhere.
How do I even go in a restaurant and start unpacking eggs?
Even here

Advice is to lie about it, like the cure is worse than being diabetic.
I remember being a newbie too. It was about 15 months ago. I had blood sugars around 18 and practically everything the old timers said - about being disappointed if their number went up to 6 , about more than 2 increase being a problem seemed that they occupied a different planet from me.
At the time I decided I can take this two ways - either throw up my hands in horror that I will never be able to do what is being suggested , or go with the flow, accept that these people seemed to know what they were talking about, there was no absolute reason why my own body would behave any differently from theirs and do my best to try and sort out my own health before it was too late .
A year later I'm now one of those annoying people commenting on the minutae of small levels of control. I am just like everyone else utterly fallible and some days it doesn't work, most days it does and I feel fitter than I have done for years.
You will too, no one should expect this to easy, it isn't , but it is doable, and the food IS lovely just different.
Good luck and welcome !
Why do you suggest lieing about low carbing?
Can't we admit we do it?
I'm a bit lost. I didn't suggest lieing about it ? Low carbing makes eminent sense, for everyone on the planet not just diabetics - my reasoning being that it forces everyone along a path of more real foods and less processed foods.
.I should that to the rooftops to all my friends ( when discussing diet - hopefully not the rest of the time )
I don't think it matters as to how its defined- LCHF, ketogenic, low carb . paleo, vegetarian, vegan - etc - the one thing all of these diets have to offer is that unless fat is deliberately restricted they will be naturally higher in fats and lower in carbs than processed foods simply because that is what real food is -whichever real food you choose to do it with.
I have happily picked out all the good bits and left the bread on the plate - its easy to just mutter " gluten intolerance " if anyone comments
Seriously If you've been diagnosed then you have a very very serious disease.
Take it lightly if you want to.
Ignore it if you want to.
Your body your disease.
Mie isn't going to kill me because I listened to all the crazy people on here and then became as crazy as them!
My car has snacks in it.
Sweets for uplift of sugars should I need it.
Posk scratchings to keep me going should the traffic hit a dead stop for five hours and there's no way out.
I alwasy fill up a bottle with water just in case.
Often a flask of coffee.
I live in North Wales and everywhere I need to go is a long way compared with living in a city.
60 70 80 mile round trips are common on a daily basis.
The A55 coastal express often shuts down because of accidents.
I want to be as comfortable as possible in those situations.
I'm no longer like the rest of the people in the traffic jam as I have a deadly disease that is affected by food and water intake.
All these precautions are just a part of my daily life now so I don't really think about them.
I'm on auto pilot as it weere.
No not frightened not worrying just learned to live with the disease that brings on many changes.
You'd be the diabetic in the traffic jam that was panicking not me.
In your other thread, like not eating carbs is worse than being diabetic?
Exactly the title of the thread, religion with fear.
Does every single member on here do that, or do others cope in ways that aren't as good for diabetics as yours are?
Do they all panic in traffic jams, or can they cope without fear?
Genuine question to others, if there are other ways?
Is the second best method still good enough, if somehow I forget to pack before every trip?
Or do I need to snack on pork scratchings all the time, as I see it is a very popular snack.
Well that's certainly lightened things up and reassured @Seriously !Seriously If you've been diagnosed then you have a very very serious disease.

I reckon you're here to wind people up.Exactly the title of the thread, religion with fear.

I cope with zero fear, I don't worry about any of these things, and I don't need to because I don't need to take insulin. I am very fortunate in that Many posters here do need to take insulin and that changes many things about how you can live your life. For someone newly diagnosed with diabetes you have a great opportunity to get in control of it early without needing insulin. Changing your diet gives you the best chance of doing that.
Ultimately you don't " need" to snack on anything- if you do decide to snack and you wish to control your glucose levels then you will need to find new snacks in place of sugary ones or biscuits - there are tons of things around that work
boiled eggs, hard cheese, avocado, pork scratching dry cured Italian meats, coffee with cream , nuts, seeds. Celery with a nut butter, pate and all manner of baked good made with for example almond flours. You are really only limited by your imagination once you know what kind of foods you are looking for !
