Type 2 Bedtime Snacks?

What are the best bedtime snacks? I've tried different approaches and got different fasting BG levels in the morning...
Not eating at all - 4.7 mmol/L, 4.1 mmol/L
Cup of semi-skimmed milk - 5.2 mmol/L
Cup of semi-skimmed milk + 1 cracker - 6.1 mmol/L, 6.3 mmol/L
Probably none of the above is a correct procedure. But I prefer a fasting BG of 4.1 than 6.3 mmol/L.
How do you manage this?

*I'm on metformin + dapaglifozin 2x/day
 
I think you’ve answered your own question. The FBG you’re aiming for has come after no bedtime snack.....

I’m afraid of hypoglycemia. Maybe I have no reasons for it since I’m not on insulin? I also feel it’s harder to fall asleep if I don’t eat at all.

I’m unmedicated so don’t have experience of this and know nothing about dapaglifozin and whether it can cause hypos. Hopefully someone will be along in a while with a better answer.

Looking up metformin and dapagliflozin side-effects - both list hypoglycaemia as rare (but not zero).
If your BSL fasting in the morning is in range, then you have your answer.
It depends on what is an acceptable range of that fasting BSL for you (and generally what is acceptable for1 1/2 to 2 hours after a meal as well).
 
You could try a low carb snack? I often have 30g of nuts at bedtime.
 

I want FBG and postprandial levels between 4.4 - 5.5 mmol/L. I’ve already managed to get that after lunch and dinner (only vegetables and protein). For some reason in the morning and after breakfast values are over 5.5 unless I don’t eat at all before bed or only drink a cup of milk before bed and have a Greek yogurt with some nuts for breakfast. I was trying to keep a few carbs in my diet (like bread) but as it seems if I want to keep my BG under 5.5 mmol/L I should totally stop eating them.
 
Try celery sticks filled with crunchy peanut butter as an evening snack. Celery is about 0.9gm carbs per 100gm and peanut butter around 9gm per 100gm.
 
Without medication and eating consistently low carb, two meals a day, no snacks and no bother suits me completely.
I know how I react to bread - so that is not on the menu - no sugary liquids such as milk - no need for a carb induced sleepiness snack.
I think I trust my body and a low carb way of eating far more than taking pills.

My favorite is roasted pumpkin seeds. I get the ones in the shells because they take longer to eat, so I eat fewer. I do not notice any increase in BG in the morning.

I love those - sometimes I use Philadelphia or soft white cheese in the celery. Mmmm!
 
If you really feel you need to; nuts like walnuts or pecans, cheese, an egg, some soothing tea, olives, a slice of cold cut meat? I love celery sticks, too...
