BGM - what model?

I am thinking of getting my own meter and Rachox suggested I post my own thread.

I had an AccuChek Instant for a short while for a medical trial, but I wasn't accepted on the trail as HbA1c was a touch too low! However it got me thinking that some investigation into my BG might be fruitful.

My head is spinning with all the options, but low running costs would be good.

Sinocare?
GlucoNavii?
Accucheck?
XXXXX?
 
Just to clarify my suggestion to @CatsFive , I no longer use a BGM preferring to use Dexcom ONE + CGM. I feel my info maybe a bit out of date and other members may have info on any newer models available now.
 
I’m just bumping this up for you. I know there are plenty of people here that buy their own meters so must have an opinion. Maybe altering the title and making it clearer it’s about funding blood glucose meters rather than using an abbreviation might help?

Sorry I can’t help, as I’m on insulin I get my meter from the NHS.
 
I use the Tee 2 from @ Rachox list, have done for about 10 years, the strips are around £10 for 50, I’ve had other meters one my own & one my dads & they all pretty much measured the same when I checked them against each other

The Tee 2 does me fine

It’s almost impossible for a T2 diet only to get a meter & strips on prescription. My first meter was an accuchek but I was given that in hospital as a mis diagnosed T1, when I was re diagnosed as T2 no longer on insulin but on max Gliclizide I had to really fight my case to keep my subscription for strips. They allowed me 50 every 3 months & said I was lucky to get those, I could have had 50 a month if I drove! So I started self funding then & definitely wouldn’t get them now as T2 diet only

I use the care sense pro which reads keytones as well as glucose.
It is paid for by our NHS and are £20 off amazon and £18.99 for 50 strips the tee2 strips are alot lot cheaper.

I'm been using a GlucoNavii for a few years now and last time I checked there didn't appear to be anything substantially better available. 100 test strips & 100 lancets are £24.99 from Amazon. The GlucoNavii itself is about £15 with 10 test strips or £25 with 50.

I use the Contour Plus Blue from diabetes.org.uk the test strips are only £8.74 for 50 vat free.
 
I shifted to Tee2+ a year ago and would recommend I find it easy to use and reliable to date.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I ended up getting a Sinocare AQ Air from the Amazon Sinocare shop, which works fine. The lance is fiddly but I've got the hang of it now, and a sharps box is free at the pharmacy - that might be Scotland only. Strips are cheap & come with lances.

My biggest beef now is the little carry pouch won't really accommodate the tub with strips in and the lance as well as the meter. And until I've emptied one of the pots of strips I don't have something to put a few lances in.

I like it using AAA batteries, I will try rechargeables, and the app (much as I hate them) seems OK though I prefer download to a PC. However apps seem to be the way of the world now. The AccuCheck has a USB socket on the bottom and I found TidePool software can connect to it, so it's sucked out the readings I made with that and I think can add them to the app. Would still much rather have them all in Excel though...

I had an AccuChek Instant for a few days which was from the Vesper-5 study that once my bloods were back I didn't make the grade for - my Hba1c was slightly too low.

Reading the replies it seems there isn't a huge amount to choose between different meters. Several different meters have been mentioned all with fairly happy users.
