Morning all. Not going in to all the details but my auto mode has gone a bit wrong this morning.
Got up, check sugars, prep breakfast work out bolus.
OK so today it's 18 basal as usual and we're going for 3 bolus.
Injected 18 bolus by mistake WHAT A FOOL.
Looks like being a big breakfast and an interesting few hours.:mad::mad:

Oh dear that's a right pain - I've also done this, be curious to find out who hasn't, mornings are always my worst time as I am more likely to make mistakes then, good luck, lots of testing and let us know how you get on ;)

Hi @Juicyj . Just feeling a bit bloated but it'll pass, going to check hourly to see where I'm at. Have occasionally forgotten to inject but this is first time I've got basal and bolus mixed up.
Just another joy of diabetes. Lucky I realised my mistake or it would have got really interesting :):):)

Good luck, at least you found out your mistake quickly and have dealt with it. The day can only get better :)
Take care and keep testing :)

Hey @therower yes my common mistake it to forget I've injected too.. You can get insulin pens with a timer on the cap, or perhaps even just joy it down on a pad to confirm what time and how much taken ?

Oh blimey @therower - as you say, it's going to be an interesting morning!

Hope it's going okay! Just keep testing, eh?

Luckily I have a very useful 'override' hunger button - being diabetic for so long and having used to be very prone to hypos it's developed into a useful skill in circumstances such as yours this morning! And I've been there, done that, with the insulin mix-ups!

More toast.....?

@Juicyj got the pen and log everything in my book. It's just that occasional time when something distracts you at that one moment. Today I'm blaming Chris Evans on radio 2 I turned up and was singing along to Gun's and Rose's.

Sweet child of mine, love that one ?
I have only mixed mine up once, a few years ago, I took daytime Insulin, instead of nighttime ( I only take Levemir once and that is before bed) Rang 111 for advice and the nurse was very helpful and told me what to do. Nurse said she would phone me at 4 am, she did, but if I didn't answer, paramedics would be sent immediately. Everything was fine, but very tired next day

@Robinredbreast. It's nice when someone goes that extra bit to help.
Just back from gym. 1hour cardio, sugars a tad up, will sort it at lunch. Overall not turned out to bad at all.
Not turning radio on until I've had breakfast tomorrow.:):):)

do you have different coloured pens? (But yes I know if you're prancing around your kitchen to Guns'n'Roses different colours don't make a blind bit of difference!)

I'm one of thoses that has never ever in a million years done that mixup......................except that one time.................! And to be honest it was one of my most stable mornings, BG level wise.

Yes pens totally different. Purely down to operator error rather than equipment malfunction.

Aha I had this happen when I was 7 although the difference was far bigger, gave 23 units bolus and 3 basal instead of the other way round...
I thought it was the best morning of my life not being allowed to go to school and eating sweets! Until I felt incredibly sick...
Have never made the mishap again!

I don't think I've ever confused my Lantus and Novorapid but I have certainly done a lantus injection twice (late at night and possibly too much wine). Long time ago and equipment more primitive then and no way of telling if you'd had your dose or not. Of course my sugars were way down for 24 hours and I seemed to be eating all the time to make up for it but everything was OK in the end. Did not cut out my novorapid but reduced it just for that day.
