Blood glucose not increasing with sugar??

I do not have diabetes
My blood sugar dipped to a little low for me (4.3) I don’t think I’ve seen it below five more than twice. I ate some white chocolate and it’s barely moved 4.7 I’ve never seen this before and I’m a little worried. Usually when I eat, especially something sugary it will jump up to 7.5 ish and come back down a couple of hours later. Not this time. Any explanation or advice??

4.3 is a perfectly normal blood sugar level, diabetes causes high blood sugar not low.
Anything you have read or heard about the dangers of low blood sugar levels will have been caused by medication.
If you were taking any drugs that could possibly force your levels dangerously low then levels around 4 are when it's wise to take action to bring your levels up, just incase.
There are other conditions that can cause unmedicated lows but if you just have pre diabetes or T2 it's not something you need to worry about.

It could have been the fat content slowed down the rise - white “chocolate” isn’t in fact chocolate mainly sugar & fat. I see by your profile information that you are pre diabetic so assume you aren’t on any blood sugar lowering medication?

If that’s the case then a BG of 4.3 is a pretty normal BG and 4.7 is a great number :) what is it that worries you about those numbers? Are you concerned you maybe have a hypo? Hypos can happen but are rarely a problem for someone not on BG lowering drugs such as insulin or Gliclizide as your live will kick in and send glucose out to deal with it

I’m T2 and manage my BG with a very low carb diet, I often have those numbers and wouldn’t treat them.

Did you test because you felt hypo or unwell or was it just a random test?

Accepting what others have said previously. I have hypos and to be honest anything other than simple sugars do not cut it for raising low blood sugar quickly. Fruit juice, sweet candies/sweets such as Starbursts, jelly babies, ******* are good, in short anything containing simple sugars will raise your BG within about 15 minutes. Chocolate of any sort takes time, as previously mentioned anything containing fats will slow the metabolisation process.

Not sure why I got erased ******** for a type of candy! If it has a double meaning I have never heard of it.

I'm guessing it was gummmies! Did I win something?

The forum gets loads of ACV/keto/CBD gummmy spammers, so the word has been added to the bad words filter at some point in hopes it would help.
It doesn't really, but it was a nice try.
You can still say winegums though, which is my go to low treatment when out and about.

Looks normal to me. I would be quite happy with my BG in that region - it often is. I certainly wouldn't be eating anything at all to raise the level.

I've never attempted to raise my BG for any reason, so have no favourite item. I understand from T1 colleagues and friends that chocolate isn't a good option, having too much fat.

Given your history, and that you're not on medication, if you left it a bit your liver would in all probability adjust the level for you, if you needed a higher BG.

While I agree with the rest of your post, as a T1 chocolate (carbs+fats) isn't ideal to treat a low, which needs the quickest treatment available.
But a 4.3 would be the perfect candidate for chocolate or the likes to nudge it up a little as opposed to aggressive treatment, there is no hypo yet.

Not relevant to @GM1986 of course, who isn't on hypo inducing medication.
