I have high blood pressure. A lot of people on this forum say that their BP dropped to normal when they lost their weight. Mine hasn't budged. Somebody (can't find the thread now) posted that they take l-citrulline which has worked for them. Anybody got any information about this please.

hey, I live in Denmark .. last month two of prominent Danish medical doctors have released a book with the title :
"healthy blood pressure in 14 days"... by changing one's choice of foods..
https://www.politikensforlag.dk/sundt-blodtryk-pa-14-dage/t-0/9788740046823

I think it is a bit megalomanic to give the book such a title if there wasn´t a very likely probability that the approach will work in real life. I haven't bought the book yet, only my lowest number is rather high like around 95... and the highest is in the area of 130...

some of the foods that are claimed to lower blood pressure are garlic, beetroot and leaves, salmon, rye, rucola salad and spinach, very dark chocolate, berries, pomegranates oats and bananas, pistachios, kimchí and coleslaw, and unsweetened yogurt... cinnamon, and a lot of other food kinds.

but I wonder if anyone else has been reading that food choices can lower blood pressure back to normal in such a short time ?

I put a question about blood pressure around a week ago, as I have had a rise since undertaking heavier weights. I have found garlic has dropped me back below 130 / 80. I knew this would work before putting the question but was concerned about smelly breath.

Everyday since I have a clove, immediately drink about an inch of full fat milk, then I wash my mouth with warm water a few times, brush my teeth, wash mouth again, chew on fresh parsley, mixed with coriander and mint and digest this and then have a centimetre of fresh lemon. This works for me and with the additional health benefits of garlic, its and multiple cheap effective win. I have also restarted hand grips (which I will not stop again).

Are you having it taken at the surgery? Mine is always high when I’m there so I bought a monitor and hey presto, it is normal almost verging on low. Major “white cost syndrome”. Could you have that? Just a thought x

Hibiscus tea. Some research suggests 3 cups a day can significantly reduce BP in a couple of weeks. We haven't tested this, but it is delicious and high in Vit C too!

Forgot about this one, even though it is in my cupboard. Will start drinking this again as a habit and back off of coffee a bit.

Green Tea seems to have dropped my BP hugely - in fact I think I’m going to have to stop drinking it as I have felt dizzy a couple of times and when I’ve checked my BP it can be ninety something over sixty something - just now it was 95/61...

my daughter has the same very low blood pressure..45/85. but she is okay with it.. thought it is a blood pressure of a four year old child and she is a grown up now, it is not necessarily dangerous

The only problem is that I feel dizzy when it is this low... I wonder if it could also be that maybe I’m not getting enough salt...
