blood sugar and money

I've noticed a remarkable similarity between my blood sugar level and my bank balance. If I go for too long without checking either of them I tend to get an unpleasant surprise when I do!
Last week I was away for a few days and managed to leave my meter at home on the kitchen table (OK, it was an early morning flight - that's my excuse) and when I checked my levels again when I was back home my fasting level was higher than it normally is, probably because I "sinned" a bit when I was out of the watchful eye of the FreeStyle Lite. Likewise, losing track of my bank balance for a week or so always seems to encourage me to spend more money than I should.
There is one important difference, though - in the first case the numbers go up, and in the second case... (hardly need to finish that sentence, do I?)

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
