Blood Sugar Dropping While Asleep

I have a T2 friend who has recently been prescribed Mycophenolate for a lung infection. It is causing her BG numbers to drop drastically. During the day she can chew glucose tablets or other sweets, but what can she do while asleep at night? We're hoping her pulmonologist will prescribe a CGM at her appointment on Monday, but is there anything she can do until then? She's been setting her alarm to wake her up every few hours during the night to check her BG.

Hi @SaskiaKC . Difficult to advise a ‘friend of a friend’, without full knowledge of the situation. For example what diabetes or other meds and health conditions she has.
Perhaps your friend could join here, to have her own discussions? Hopefully her medical team can provide specific advice when she sees them in a couple of days.

Has she contacted her diabetes nurse to discuss adjusting her diabetes medication?

Seems logical to lower her basal insulin (assuming she uses a basal) and take some carbs before bed, including a high GI snack to buffer later BG (cheese sandwich). It's also not a sin to go to bed with a BG of 9-10 if it keeps the stress down and allows at least half a night's sleep.
