Scottie is there a lidl near you?
I get mine from amazon 2 kilo bags at a time ( cheaper)
Well i look at it this way....i don't smoke or drink( much) so that 2 k pack lasts me a month so you pays your money...........£15 for a 2.5 kilo bag! Fliipin'eck!
Definately 3 well spaced meals a day scottie it then gives your liver and digestive system time to deal with each meal:What do you thinks works best - having quite small bites throughout the day? Or just 3 meals a day?
Ok they do the german rye bread there plus their bratwurst sausages are 97% pork great for us and if you like them 2 advocados for £1.69
Very good vitamins and oils for us plus add some prawns and yum yum bit of lettuce and some celery ........nom nom nom...Thanks for that Clive, will have a look at the weekend. Never tried advocadoes, might give them a try.
I dont think your Dr will give you test strips .. We are mostley self funding for meters and strips .. I have the Codefree meter .. Strips are the cheapest and the meters not expensive either ! They can be purchased from Amazion or direct from homehealth at www.homehealth-uk.com ..there is a promo code for the strips 5 packs - 264086 .. Or 10 packs - 975833 the promo codes only work if ordering direct from Homehealth
There are other places to purchase diffrent brands of meters inc the shop at the diabetes.co.uk
Way to go rowan well done you!!!!I've had the testing strips put on repeat prescription after telling them I need to find out what i can or can't eat. I'd told them how shocked I was that my usual prorridge breakfast sent me sky high and they accepted it without question, so well worth asking your doctor. They're only giving me 50 at time but I requested a repeat after 2 weeks so have had 100 from them in 3 weeks
Good day scottie, remember ! Step by step , a good breakfast ...eggs any way you like ,bacon , sausages ,mushrooms , slice of fried bread! ( fat makes it slow absorb) ! Full fat greek yogurt with berries , i get the german rye bread from lidl its about 8 carbs per slice and doesn't spike me ! Hows hubby? Do you like lambs liver and fried onions? Thats another good one,( fried in olive oil or butter or coconut oil,) have a read on here lots of great food ideas . Keep us posted .:)
Absolutely pays to check .....we want low carb quality foods:I compared sausages last nght,
Richmond thick pork sausages 7.8 carbs per grilled sausage
Debbie And Andrew Harrogate 97% Sausage, 0.5 carbs per grilled sausage
BIG difference!

Result!! Well done happy: happy:That's good. Husband just called the GP's and they have given me some, hopefully they will put them on my repeat so I can keep a track of my readings all the time instead of when I just feel ill.
Thank you Clive .
Am I looking at the carbohydrate vaue which is 67g per portion, or the 'of which sugars' which is 0.3g?
Bangheads...It's 6.7 carbs per crispbread, tesco show 67g but it's a mistake
Thanks for that Clive, will have a look at the weekend. Never tried advocadoes, might give them a try.
They're lovely! I often have them on ryvita dark rye, or with prawn mayo, for breakfast. I've tried a lot of new stuff in the last 3 weeks, this is a helpful thread for new veg http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/trying-new-veg.69866/
