Blood Sugar in High 20's and GP not helping, please advise

Strugglying to find any low carb crackers on Asda. Is a piece of granary bread equal to one carb? I think I read it somewhere.

Another tip is to. drink plenty of water my saviour was water and exercise ,not too hard but a stroll round the block or the stairs. Also I have caulli instead of pasta just a few florets covered with Bolognese sauce I throw the caulli in the water when the spaghetti is about half cooked (Don't tell the kids!) .I also use slices of celeriac in lasagne along with the pasta sheets so that I can just have the celeriac although my husband now likes the celeriac too.Keep on keeping on you are doing great :)

Thank you Carol, I know I need to drink more water, just don't like the taste. Am currently adding No Added Sugar Ribena which I know isn't great.

What about bottled water? Going to start my excercise tonight after tea, 15 minuted walking up and down the stairs.

No !!!!! A piece of granary bread is however many carbs it says per slice on bag. Hovis granary bread is 17g per slice for example. The lowest carb one is Burgen soya and linseed which is around 11g per slice.

Oh, I see. Won't be eating a lot of that then. I've been eating 6 x slices of white bread a day recently so that must be one hell of a lot. :woot:

Do people spread their carbs intake out over 3 meals? Or just over one meal?

6 slices of bread at say 20g of carbs is a lot per day certainly.

Most of us will spread our carbs out over the day to avoid any massive BS rises. Some folk find they can't do many carbs at breakfast as their levels spike too high. I usually have a few at breakfast and then not so many at lunch and evening will depend on what we are having. I aim to have under 50g carbs most days.

Over the three meals ! My one slice of bread a day is 18g carbs per slice .. Then I am left with 12g carbs for the rest of my meals ... I don't count the carbs in green veg .. But do in peas..beetroot.. Potatoes and carrots .

As your a meat eater you can use the meat for filling up a dinner with.

Don't look at the sugar part of the carbs .. It's the total carb count you need to work with ... It may seem impossible.. But you may be ok with more carbs than I have.

I also have a splash of lemon juce ( the cooking lemon juce) in my cold boiled water .. I never drink water from the tap unless it's been boiled .. Don't know why .. But the wife insists on this.

Ryvita dark rye according to my fitness pal is 6.7g per slice.. So uf you were having 10 slices as a portion then that would account for 67g carbs!!

It doesn't matter how you eat your carbs.. Personally as I eat little I eat them as evening meal onward... And have 2 boiled eggs with some salt in the mornings. If I do have berries and double cream then I have something like salmon and salad in evenings with usual walnuts, cheese and dark choc x 2 squares.

Walnuts are equal to 7 whole ones a day.

If having eggs for brunch then I will have carbs for my evening meal such as crustless quiche with salads.

Found some 97% sausages at Asda so that will be added to my shopping list. 0.5g carbs per 100g.
It makes you think though doesn't it, that 67g carbs in one Ryvita - you'd be fuller eating 6 slices of granary bread (not that I'm going to, of course). Ryvita is supposed to be slimming.

I am so worried I am going to be starving, and that I will deviate. Determined not too though.
