Had a somewhat carby meal tonight but one I've had before without incident and only took me to 60 g of carbs for the day.

But blood sugar one hour after meal was 10.8 very high for me these days then one hour later that's at two hours after meal it was 4.3 a big swing in a short time and has left me feeling ill not a hypo maybe but feels like it.

feels like I am on a roller coaster at times recently.

Sorry. I can't explain it but just sympathise with you.
I rarely go below 5 but am at 4.7 tonight and feeling sick too :meh:

@daisyduck thanks for your reply sorry your not feeling too great either maybe a little snack may help bring you up a bit that may help hugs to you..

I have no idea why my bloods seem to have gone out of whack lately maybe they will settle down again soon hope so any way.

Thanks. I'm really pushing to lose more weight and have been sticking to less than 20 carbs a day.. weight still won't move but my BG's are really going down well .. even fasting is in the 6's instead of mid 7's.
I just think my body was surprised to go below 5 tonight ;)
I've just had my evening cocoa with cream and that does seem to have helped a bit.

Hope you feel better soon..

John my bloods have been weird lately too. Seems to correlate with the weather ? Both highs and lows for no reason. Makes me question every dose!! Just trying to roll with it and not stress. Food has not changed but bs sure has.

I read on this forum someone said barametric pressure effects them. I'm staring to agree snow, rain, sun, warm ,cold. Everyday is different and my bloods too. Weird time of year

That's a huge drop! Is there any possibility that your numbers were inaccurate (something on your fingers, bad strip, etc)? If not then I'm not surprised you feel a bit off after such a fast decrease, especially if you're not used to numbers like that in the first place. Since you've eaten that meal before without problems, maybe the high was caused by stress, or you're coming down with a cold or something. Good luck, hope you're feeling better soon! :)

Hi mate,
I know how those sudden spikes and drops feel like.
They are not nice!
And they are similar to hypos!
I might be talking rubbish but I think that because you are almost exclusively around normal levels, the quick spike is something your brain doesn't appreciate, the brain likes your blood glucose levels nice and stable or steady going up and down. Something out of the norm triggers the symptoms.
That's the reason why when having high blood glucose levels around diagnosis symptoms are extreme or only a random blood test finds you are diabetic without symptoms!
Sometimes, like us RH ers, when given the usual hypo treatment of high quick acting glucose can have a rebound effect and all it does is make you worse, bouncing around yo yoing, up and down just like a rollercoaster!
The way around it is to just have enough carbs to put you slowly back into normal range and have a low carb meal about fifteen minutes later.
You will probably feel rough for a couple of days!

Hope you feel better soon mate, nice and easy does it!

If you can imagine having those symptoms every couple of hours for months on end without knowing what is happening and your doctor hasn't a clue!
That was my hypo hell, a few years ago!

All the best!

@Kristin251 maybe it is the weather there's nothing else I can put it down to. Hope things settle down for you soon.

@phdiabetic numbers were right checked them twice can't think of any thing that triggered it and nothing really out of the
normal happening.

@Lamont D This has happened to me a couple of times now last time was not quite so drastic awful when it happens and leaves me feeling groggy for a few days and as you said my blood sugars have been pretty steady for quite a while now until the past few weeks that is.

I can really empathise with people with RH now as it can't be at all pleasant going through that repeatedly.

Oh and will take your advice on how to cope with it thanks.

I would certainly agree that the steadier you keep your bg, the more you feel the unexpected highs and lows.
When we bounce around regularly, it feels more like business-as-usual, and we feel it less.

You have my sympathy, John.

Maybe just a faulty strip? Was it just one reading?
No checked it twice as couldn't believe it.
It's happened to me a couple or more times in the past few weeks and I must say I do not like it.

Thanks every one for your replies.:)

John

Not too bad now still a bit dizzy but more or less settled down hope it stays that way.but blood sugars tonight gone from 5.8 pre meal to 8.0 1 hour then 8.7 two hours and now three hours later 9.3 :banghead:

Chicken in creamy leek sauce used soy flour in sauce with a small amount of sweet potato mashed sweet potato in small amounts is usually ok for me, going to test again at four hours and see what happens.

edit to say now dropped back down to 7.5 normally would be in the five to six's this time of day. Having a weird few weeks of it lately.

And your fasting readings haven't really changed - Yes weird. Same meter? Blood sugar levels higher in winter? Stress? Wait you have been/are in pain ..... This not so much who's dunnit but what's dunnit!

Yes I know hard to pin down to any one thing may be a number of things combined. I am waiting on the result from the GAD test diabetes consultant asked for last week as he thinks I am too slim.though I don't think I'm stressing over it the pain at night I could do without he want's to put me on gabapentin but having MG he has to ask my neurologist if it's OK.
