Hi all I've just had my blood test results back and Im happy that my blood sugar is coming down but im over the "normal" parameters for liver function, I'm ringing the docs this week when they open back up but has anyone had this before and can anyone explain what it means? I'm so exhausted all the time which apparently is a sign of liver disease it says that the top end of the scale is 40 and I'm 41 so only just over and comments of tests required, just wondering if anyone has experienced the same whilst I wait for the docs to open thanks

i've had this a couple of times, and it turned out to be due to a common infection rather than either the medications I was taking or some liver disease.
The medical profession tend to take liver checking more seriously if you are taking medication known to sometimes cause liver problems.
I have never had any out of range liver function tests since my T2 Diabetes diagnosis nearly 6 yrs ago, though I am low Carb diet controlled (in remission) and have never taken any diabetes medications.

Just to clarify @GemP are you referring to your Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) levels or your Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GTT) levels ?
Canadian lab levels are set at ALT <36 U/L and GTT <44 U/L

edited to add unit of measurement.

Yeah it's the ALT levels that have come back a bit on the high side

I've had that @GemP and had the blood test repeated. I'm not medically trained, but my experience if any blood tests are not in normal range, is that they're repeated. It's easy to say, but try not to worry, especially with it only being 1 over the top of the normal range.

Can't help with reasons for it, but I do know that the liver gets the prize for the organ which regenerates itself most readily.
