BMI

third time lucky :lol: = 30.4 ok where did the .4 come from :shock:
I'm going back to my original one of 28 looks better on paper :wink:
 
Always the metric version as this will be what is used in practice and by the GP.

I wonder if your Gp or DN put the right ht and wt - you would be suprised how many pts have the wrong height on their records. If they are using computerised records the BMI is calculated automatically - hence the great number of inaccurate records!

BMI is a guide but tbh a better method is body fat if it is done correctly. it is time consuming if done with calipers but is the most accurate. Cheap body fat scales are very innacurate by the way.

Many of the sportsmen I work with would be considered obese using BMI when clearly they are not!

My records always say I am 5'7 (even though I am 5'8) and I tell them every time! they measure me every time, agree and it never gets changed :wink: my records also show me at approx 7lbs heavier than I actually am, but then I am usually weighed fully clothed and often with boots on unless it's in the summer and I can kick my flip flops off! :lol: best way is to calculate your BMI at home using the calculator on this website and your own (honest!) measurements.

:oops: My son was filling in the old visitor's PP application at the post office. He did not know his height in metric, so the guy behind the counter suggested 1.5 m (5 ft) instead of 1.8 m (6 ft.) He had no problem travelling but used that figure on a mortgage application form. He was sent to his Dr for a medical because of his dangerous obesity. :D
