I concur on burgen bread, but would advise a poorly controlled T2 to go on a very low carb diet, even if just for a while until control is established.
That means eat mainly leafy veggies and proteins and fats. leave out; bread, other baked goods, rice, potatoes, pasta .
You may find you can add a little back in once you have control.
There's no effective difference between, wholemeal bread and white,or brown and white rice and pasta for diabetics.
If you ask the Health care people for help, the odds are they will want you to increase your medication.
I personally think that large doses of several medications are dangerous.
