Sadly, it looks like potatoes are a no-go for you, for now. I know it's a pain because they're such a simple filler.

What about a mountain of shredded cabbage? I love cabbage.

Ally - We've all had those readings that are shockers, so putting them on here means you're just like the rest of us were as we moved forward.

If it was all very easy, nobody would be here.

Well done for saying, it helps others :)

i also love cabbage
on monday i,m going shopping and will buy veggies
i have certainly learnt the hard way

Don't despair. There are all sorts of things that make a stew carb rich. Onions carrots potatoes and whatever you thicken it with. I can't eat peas or potatoes. They push my bg up so much. But with tweaking it a bit we can still enjoy a nice comforting stew. One trick I do is take some of the veg out and stock and blitz it with a hand held stick blender. That returned to the stew thickens it without needing gravy granules. I still put carrots in but swede as well and I have it with a sweet potato which are ok for me

As zand says, putting your numbers up helps newbies understand the extent to which these confounded numbers can really swing. Good for you.

is cauli mash, cauli just mashed?
i realise now that peas for me hike up my readings
so on monday i will look in the supermarket at the fresh and frozen veg
i,m not over keen on swede or parsnips and will eat broccolli at a push

Yes cauli just mashed with butter amd cream. I think it tastes better than mashed potatoes parsnips are quite starchy so I don't ear them but all veg that grow above the ground are fine. I've grown to love my veggies now

Leeks n cabbage and mange tout with heaps of butter!! Delicious, my fav! Used to have gravy, but haven't done since adding the extra butter and crushed garlic and caraway seeds as well.
