BS readings

Morning@Ally. Sorry to see you got a 13 today. Esp since you had great before and after your tea....did you eat anything after your tea to make you go high? You said you were up much earlier today. But I would have thought an earlier testing of fasting would be lower

@ally1 I also noticed on the morning fasting thread you posted about 5am. and got a 13. I also ask if you had anything between your tea and this reading. Some supper perhaps? In order for a fasting reading to be realistic, you need to have fasted for at least 8 hours, possibly even longer, otherwise the reading can be skewed. Is this what happened?

Thanks everyone. It must be doing me some good. Since lchf. Lost 2 stone and at goal weight. Bgs in average of 6.2 in the day and now trying to maintain without raising bgs too much. Increased carbs to 45.to 50 gm a day

The last 5 months have been hard, I've missed my treats especially chocolate, chips and fruit but today I had perfect readings so the denial was worth it! Starving 5.5 pre evening meal 4.5 post 5.6 so celebrated with 2 squares of choccy

4.5 before , 5.1 after. I did 30 minutes exercise bike at 1hr. This way I get to have a small piece of cheese and half an apple before bed. I'm beginning to understand the concept of earning a reward after all these years of stuffing my face without regard.

6.2 on waking and if I have another 2+ spike in 2 hours after breakfast I'm gonna spit !!

bacon scrambled eggs and lots of water. test test test :)

Before tea 5.0
1hr after 6.8
2hrs after 6.3
3hrs after 6.1

This is my problem. I may not have spiked much, but it takes me ages to come back down.

Meal included 3 new potatoes and peas.

Just one of those mysteries yesterday Mike.

Reckon you're right bluetit. The 2.5 jump yesterday between breakfast and one hour after really had me wondering. The second spike of 2.5 between 1 hour and 2 hours was of more concern.

The 1.0 jump today I can accept (despite the almost no carb breakfast) so we'll see in 50 minutes what today's 2 hour result is :)

... and 7.4 so fairly happy with that. Going over the s/sheet I keep updated, it's odd how often (around 60% of the time) my 2 hour reading is higher than my one hour.

I think we all peak at different times depending what we have eaten. Quick release carbs peak earlier, low GI foods peak later, fat comes into play, insulin resistance levels affect matters, and its all very complicated. :hilarious:

Can't have it all being simple and easy, can we?

What would be the challenge in that!

Everyone would want to be a diabetic then!

I blipped last night too, 4.4 before my tea and 8.3 at 2 hrs after it settled to 7.6 before bed.

That will be the pilfering of the butter cream bun then :-) note to self....go for a long walk on baking days

Monday will be interesting, that's my weigh in day...my first week of LCHF
