BS readings

ok I did a little experiment today as I am trying to build up my exercise.. so today due to time I had to go for a walk before lunch and this is the result:

5.0 Before walk
7.7 30mins after walk and before lunch
5.5 Ihr after lunch
5.0 2hrs after lunch

Not sure if its a success lol

I'd say that it has helped . Ok so you went up to 7.7 after the walk bit your levels came down and have stayed down after lunch. I don't understand the science behind it but I've found that my post exercise BS levels no longer go up so high so I'm thinking that's a sign of decreasing insinuation resistance and better blood glucose control.

alliee my readings in the morning is always high, i don,t eat anything after my tea

what did you have for dinner last night? some of your morning readings have been significantly lower than 13.1 so maybe what you ate last night had an effect this morning.

Goodness I feel for you. Maybe the answer is a low carb late supper. Something around nine...some nuts or cold meat or cheese. Then you wouldn't maybe get a huge liver dump early in the morning? Just an idea. @Brunnaria may know. But to have an after tea of 7.1. Then you ate nothing else and then get a fasting of 13. Must be a liver dump. She is very expert on this

I follow this thread a bit and I see you don't eat anything for a long time and for diabetics it's probably not best to stay hungry for too long. I have my dinner at 8.30 and do my test at 10.30 and straight after I have a bowl of full fat plain yogurt which is home made. I don't add anything to it but it's kept me stable in mornings. May be you can try it for a day or two to see if it helps. My night and fasting figures normally vary by. 2 to. 8 up or down so it's not massive.
Just a suggestion could try it and you get to eat yogurt, sadly only thing I love in my low carb high fat diet. Loved it since I was a kid.

Hi Ally,

Getting the balance right can be painful. I have dinner and test 2 hours later and then around 9pm I have a bowl of blueberries/strawberries and full fat cream (LCHF here). My morning readings are usually not to bad. My ex was a diabetic and he use to get really high morning readings until he started having a late night snack, the reading then started to drop quite remarkably. I love my berries and cream, they are such a treat.

I am on a 1200 calorie diet (dietician say so for weight loss), I keep my carbs low. That treat is about 23 carbs, which is over half my daily carbs.

That's interesting and good to know because I also make sure I eat some olives, nuts or full fat greek yoghurt before bed, if I feel my reading is on my low side. I don't have a lot but it works for me.

I eat between 6 and 7 usually and then have a decaff coffee and a sq of chocolate or half an apple and 1/2.oz cheese around 9. I often find my BS levels highest those mornings I've slept in and tested late so going too long without food does have an effect.

8.9 pre breakfast
6.6 after

@ally1 some great advise about snacking later on in the evening. I eat around 7pm - so I have a snack around 9/9:30 after I have done my post dinner test, but please be warned... if you cant resist them, don't choose nuts... last night I ate half a packet :( and I expect that could be the reason why my BS was high this morning.

Morning fasting usually between 4 and 5. Last night, had a cup of tea and a packet of pickled onion crisps before bed and my morning fasting was 3.7 !!! Go figure....
