BS readings

I conducted an experiment today with Baxter's French Onion soup, which I have always loved for a quick lunch. I haven't had any since diagnosis.
I had half a tin with some cubes of cheese dropped in the soup, and half a slice of my Hovis bread & butter. (19g carbs in total) plus a cuppa.

5.8 before
8.6 at 1hr
7.1 at 1.5hrs
6.0 at 2hrs
5.3 at 2.5hrs.

I call that a result, and am pleased to see my own insulin is working well enough to bring me down to almost base at 2 hours.

Is that a reason or an excuse? Lol. If you have a waterproof coat or an umbrella, the rain shouldn't be a problem ;)
If I wasn't at work it wouldn't have been a problem... But I don't come to work with waterproofs ... I do my walking at lunchtime because I don't like walking in the dark when I get home at 7pm but I did it today... In the rain... So I don't loose my momentum

Fasting 5.7
Post and pre lunch. 5.5
Post lunch 5.7
Pre dinner 5.8 ( sneaked a slice cold smoked turkey in while waiting for mr e to collect me as felt shakey so not really a clear break)
Post 6.6 straight after 20 minutes peddling so will recheck at 3

But are you going to do it again ?

Mike :)

Yes. Those results are within my targets. The initial spike at 1 hour was high but it would have been high for most people immediately after fast acting carbs. I was within range at 2 hours (under 6.6) and that's what I look at. I will test it again probably twice more to make sure it is OK for me.

Good point :)

5.1 Fasting / Breakfast
6.5 1hr
6.1 2hr
No Lunchtime same food I have all the time
5.1 Pre Dinner
5.4 1hr
5.7 2hrs Should have re-tested here
5.7 2 1/2hrs
7.1 3hrs
This all seems very odd, currently have a very sore throat and regularly coughing & sneezing yet my figures are lower than usual.
Then for dinner had a home made fish curry but with a Wholemeal Pitta, plus a glass & 1/2 of red wine, last time I had this meal with the Pitta, I spiked into the mid 10s, so I only had 1/2 of the Pitta and it had hardly moved. Now 7.1 3hrs
I'll check again 1/2 hr.

Maybe the red wine alcohol kept your levels low whilst your liver was dealing with the alcohol. Then once it was out of your system, all hell broke loose!

6.3 before breakfast (could have been slightly higher as there was 30 min between test and breaky)
7.7 after breakfast.. :):):)

7.2 before walk
5.0 after walk and before lunch
5.8 after lunch.... :):):)

Nowhere near like hell, but weird as you say. I've never had a 3 hour spike. What happened after that? How's your cold?
Hi Bluetit,
I promised myself I would do 1/2 hr test, too busy on here, missed the time slot.

So said, 'sod it' and had a square of 70% choc, then tested on the hour (bed 12.02am) 5.5 well I don't know, puzzled me, and my cold is bad, but my numbers have stayed down.

Then fasting today forgot till I had eaten all my yogurt, berries, flax & sprinkled granola, even then only 6.9

Got my proper fasting test tomorrow with nurse, 8.10am, see what that brings on the 23rd jan with doctor.
