Well, I think this is a wonderful forum. It has taught me more about physiology than I have ever learned before and in such a pleasant atmosphere of mutual support and education. From the simplest question of where to buy test strips to the more complex questions on the latest research it is all here for those who wish to spend time reading to expand their knowledge of Diabetes and its associated risks and impacts.
Agreed. Completely. There's always a gem somewhere. I just ignore posts that I have found through testing that don't work for me. I find a lot of the science and people's experiences valuable. It doesn't mean I would report posts because 'it's not my way'. I just want people to get their bg in control no matter how they do it.

I try not to post here any more, but this topic strikes a chord with me. When I first joined in 2014 and was looking for breakfast ideas, I was regularly advised to have a fry up. Those same posters are now admitting that they no longer have breakfast at all, but advocate fasting until lunchtime! Some of the members who advised me in the early days and who delighted in saying they take no meds for their condition now admit to taking supplements for neuropathy! Go figure.
But the really wise and helpful ones who genuinely care about individual members and who will go to great lengths to stay in touch off-forum, have either left altogether, or like me, rarely post at all.
This forum is not the place it used to be. Forums should be a place where information is freely shared, where there should be a wealth of information for those seeking solutions with wide-ranging questions to wide-ranging conditions. They should also be all embracing and respectful of everyone's different circumstances, different stages and different reasons for wanting knowledge.

If its true that Azure has been banned, I can only conclude that lunatics are now running the asylum!

I followed your link and very much enjoyed reading your success story. If you can bear to post again, I'd be interested to know how you are eating nowadays. I'm still rather struggling with all this (understatement!) but one thing I have noticed which in a small way mirrors your history. I suffered for years from quite bad reflux at night, which meant that I could only sleep on my back and had to avoid eating much in the evening. (This despite the fact that I am under rather than over-weight.) Sometimes I would be woken by a pain so bad I had to get up and drink milk, which magically quenched it. Since I drastically reduced the carbs I am eating, even though I am still eating somewhere near 100 daily if I count everything in, my digestive problems seem to have completely cured themselves.

Are you still Nordic Walking?

@badcat
And that is exactly why you should stay - because you have the memory of when things were bad and can help moderate it to fair and even handed advice.

I do agree with you on many of your posts even though I am a big fan of LCHF - I do not see it as reversal simply control and I want to do LCHF but also explore other options. And if the only people who post with the kind of knowledge you have are LCHF then anyone new is only going to get one answer!

@badcat, truly sorry that you feel the need to leave.

I myself, am only dipping in and out nowadays. I worry about people advising on foods but not actually advising that everybody should ensure that dist is balanced to get enough vitamins and minerals.
People concentrate on certain foods for diabetes but not considering full health. I do talk about cancer as well now.. as cancer us hitting 1 out of 2 people.. evenn more that diabetes and I really do not w nt people to take their eyes off looking at whole health... not just lchf, no veg, no meat etc...

I ask whether you would consider dipping in/out before permanently deleting..

I miss @azure.

When you find a way that works for you it is hard not to advocate it for everyone. I would hope that, although I have found a route that works for me at the moment, I have sufficient sense to realise that it may not have the same result in the future. As far as I am concerned all views are welcome and everyone who finds a way that works in a difficult situation is to be applauded. We know that health is fluid and varies depending on a number of factors. There are a few members whose posts I tend to scroll through, it is almost a paste of previous posts, but on the whole I enjoy the different approaches, particularly to T2 diabetes. There should be room for everyone and no-one is to be ridiculed for finding a different way or for showing their enthusiasm for a particular method by repeated posts. Some will take the tablets they are offered, some will decline and need to find an alternative solution that has a similar result, I was so grateful that I stumbled on this forum when I was in that situation. Eating to meter and gradual weight loss was the way for me to learn what my body could no longer tolerate, for others a more rapid weight loss might be their way and some will find the discipline of testing that eating to meter entails is not for them and need drugs to stabilize their bg. 2 years after diagnosis and I am beginning to think about estimating carbs in a meal but even that may not be sustainable for me in the long term and to advise a newbie to eat below a defined level is almost certainly going to lead to failure but suggesting that they are informed by using a meter is different.
It is sad that someone feels so out of sympathy with the forum that they feel they must leave, but that is their decision and I wish them well while hoping that they will reconsider after a short time.

Good decision!
Enjoy sun, relaxation, and hopefully return refreshed and renewed.

I'm a newbie. I appreciate people taking the time to give me advice, even if I don't agree with all that they say, but the bottom line is - it is still me who chooses what to do. I might try their way but if that doesn't work, then I'll try another way but overall, it is still my plan. I am prediabetic, just started eating to my meter & already lost 1.3kg so for today I am happy. The support in here is wondeeful. How about we all agree to disagree. I hope u stay badcat x

If its true that Azure has been banned,
Looking at one of azure's posts, there is no indication that she has been banned, although her status has been changed to that of a member - so demoted from moderator status, but not banned?

People post advice here based on their own personal experience. If you have a way to lower your blood glucose that differs from the standard LCHF advice, then you are free to share it with people asking for advice here. Personally, I have no problem seeing different approaches.

Yes. It makes for confusing threads sometimes, though.

Thank you for replying.
