So, I am about to order another libre sensor to see if my allergic reaction has improved and whether I can get usable results. (Last time I tried the reaction was better but the results were still all over the place.

I would really like to be able to enter the results manually into a computer program and also enter my blood sugars, so that I can better calibrate the sensor to my body's slightly weird reactions.

So, is there a program (ideally an app for me phone but I'm not too bothered) that will let me convert the libre's figures into ones more matched to my body's actual levels....?

Still thinking about a dexcom but am reluctant to commit to full time wearing of a sensor, given my body's reaction to the libre....

Have got my hba1c down to a level (47 aka 6.5) where I know I'm at risk of losing hypo awareness unless I work extremely hard to avoid hypos....

I use ANOVA in a spreadsheet. I should write that app. :)

Yep you can read the libre with out a miao miao... you need a phone with nfc to read it im not sure if the iphone can an android phone will do it..

Apps that i know of.

Android glimp or xdrip+ will correct the readings.

With the iphone the apps name is spike same as xdrip will correct it as well. Just not sure if the iphone can read it as stand alone.

iphone has to be a 7 or above.

@EllieM what did you try last time to have less of a reaction? just time away from it or some other barrier or what?

About 6 months away. The reaction was great (just a bit of an intermittent itch) but the results were chaotic and nowhere near my blood test results.

Having said that, my glucometer is not the most accurate. New Zealand has opted for one meter manufacturer with less than stellar results but very cheap strips, and given our low population I can't exactly blame them. But, my most recent blood tests had a glucose reading of 3.7 while my 10 minute later meter reading (after a urine sample and hand wash) was 4.7 and 4.8. Maybe my liver had raised my blood sugar by 1 in 10 minutes or maybe my meter is rubbish.

But last time I used the libre it was out by 5mmol/L in random directions, so though I don't like my meter I hate the libre more.

Options
1) go dexcom - I can afford to privately fund but the price structure is such that you really are best to commit for a year - given my allergies I'd rather do intermittent usage.
2) Source testing strips from overseas for another glucometer. Seriously considering this. I can buy the abbott strips that fit the libre reader from NZ, they are more accurate than my current reader.

Doing this, if you call Abbott to 'complain' about an inaccurate sensor, means they can't argue over the blood result as it's their device against another of their devices :p - but I know the strips are fairly expensive, could that be more expensive than the G6 route?

I know UK dexcom do a 'trial' kit - from memory (very dodgy!) a transmitter and 2 sensors for £130 ish.

My Sister in law is currently in NZ, say hi to her when you see her :hilarious:
