I have been told that Camels milk is good for diabetes 2 sufferers as it can help depending on tablets. Has anyone got any advice on this? Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum @Janghbari . I have had camels milk in Tunisia. I can't say I have ever heard of it being good for T2. What I can tell you is camels milk , like other types of animal milk, it contains lactose. Lactose is a form of sugar which will increase blood sugar.

Ed to add animal

I would think it’s quite a difficult thing to get here in the UK?

I stand corrected :) mind you I don’t use milk at all so wouldn’t notice it in the shops. I buy milk for son but I get that the old fashioned way delivered every morning from the farm down the road

I had to Google. There's research, which seems to bear out what the OP has been told:

Abstract

Objective: To determine whether camel's milk can be consumed by patients intolerant to lactose without undesirable reactions.
Patients and method: Twenty-five patients with clinical and laboratorial diagnosis of lactose intolerance underwent provocation tests with growing amounts of cow's milk and subsequently with camel's milk.
Results: Except for two patients, who had mild reactions to the maximum dosage of camel's milk (250 mL), the acceptance was excellent. Pasteurization of camel's milk did not affect tolerance. Also, most of the patients showed significant clinical reactions when drinking very low amounts of cow's milk.
Conclusion: Camel's milk can be considered an option for the individuals intolerant to lactose who present symptoms when ingesting cow's milk.

Is that not for lactose intolerance though not T2 diabetes?

It is about lactose intolerance, and I added the abstract to be clear that the research is not directly about impact on T2.

The paper does indicate that there are lower levels of lactose in camel milk. So you might expect there to be less impact on blood glucose as a result.

My wife and I were invited to a Bedou Camp while in Kuwait years ago and was given a small glass of Camels milk. It is not so sweet as cows milk and thicker, so that might be a help. Wouldn't recoment it though, as I am still working out what is best for me to eat daily.
