hi I have been getting very bad feelings like I have diabetes my reading of blood sugar is 9.1 a cup of tea and a nibble and it goes away I phoned my doctors nurse it is okay up to 11.0 is okay my brother said it is high who is right here any help please thanks

Nothing unusual for non diabetics to reach those figures at all however they fall back but to dispel any doubts, either get a meter and test (2 hours after your first bite) or get a blood work done (HbA1C) which will tell you your average glucose for the past 3 months

test your blood after getting up before any food and let us know.

Thanks for your replies my reading when I got up 9.0 after food it went to 6.7 I am lost don’t know what that means .

Fasting blood glucose (fbg) levels can be higher because of 'Dawn Phenomenon' where your liver dumps stored glucose into your blood stream as you wake up to get you going. It is quite normal, and non-diabetics get it too.
Eating something would stop the dp which would account for the reading of 6.7.
Blood sugar levels should be between 4-5.9 before eating, and not more than 2 mmol/L higher, two hours after eating.

@Lucky_boy

You have posted about your morning glucose levels twice previously, and have been given some good advice including seeing your GP. This advice won't change. Your morning level indicates you need to see your GP and ask for a diabetes diagnostic test called an HbA1c. We can't diagnose you or tell you to do anything other than see your GP I'm afraid. If you do this and if you have this test, you can post the results on here and we may be able to help further.

Who is right on diagnostic levels, the qualified nurse, or your brother?

Let's see, the WHO criteria for diagnosis of diabetes say only random blood sugars (that is, not a fasting blood sugar, over over 11.1 should raise a concern for diabetes - https://www.diabetes.org.uk/profess...nitoring/new_diagnostic_criteria_for_diabetes

So, it kind of looks like the nurse is right. Which, let's be honest, shouldn't be suprising that a qualified nurse is rather more familiar with the diagnostic criteria for diabetes than your brother, whom I'm assuming is not medically trained.

If you are concerned about diabetes, see your GP for a hba1c test.

Hi. You can always look at the NICE diabetes guidelines on the web which is what the surgeries are supposed to follow. They are pretty sensible.

Hi all thank you all I am house bound and takes very long time to get a home blood test you fast and can not get a time but that is the nhs today but it’s not just for me we all know what it is like today.

The Hba1c is not a fasting test, it can be done at any time of day and should give exactly the same result.
If you are a type 2 diabetic or prediabetic then there is a good chance that simply changing your diet to include fewer high carb foods will cure the symptoms so you don't really need the NHS to be doing anything at all. I was diagnosed over a year ago and have not seen my doctor since, I have normal tests and BG levels so there is nothing of interest for anyone to worry about.
