Can you believe this.

I've never had a problem with strips when I first got a blood testing kit I was given 4 boxes as and when I needed and now I'm well controlled I get 3 boxes as and when I've never been queried the reduction to 3 was my own doing as I just ended up with shed loads of the things, I've always had very good supported for testing. I think you should all move near me to get better service

NHS / NICE DES / QOF are blind completely as to the comparison of diabetic complication/hypo's/DKA versus the cost of blood strips. Then if you added in the DLA Benefits etc, well then you would seriously have better analysis of costs.

NHS is no longer caring it just based on wrong costings......

I thought it was wrong ...but you never no ...Thank you ....Kat

Just to clarify my post, I was diagnosed in 2006 and that is what I was told over the phone by the DVLA at that time, I would think that they have moved the goal posts and changed their advice many times since then, but as I said in my original answer I was at that time diet controlled and that was the advice I was given

That's ridiculous if you test say before each meal and 2 hours after, 3 meals a day or so they say that's 6 sticks and 1 before bed 7 a day by 7 days that's 49 ONE BOX so if you want to stretch your 2 boxes out do you A skip meals or B don't test C HOPE YOU DONT HAVE A HYPO OR DKA I really can't believe that.

Sorry, those goal posts were never there. The dvla person advising you was wrong....

Sorry my post was a reply to getting 2 boxes

I'm going via the doc next time & see what he has to say, it's good to see if your level is 2 or below the previous so you know if the meal was good or bad, thus over time you know what you can eat & what to leave out. :)

Precisely

There are letters and things you can print to take with you. Hopefully someone will spot your post and put up a link to them as I'm not sure where they are :-/

I've got a letter to ask for more boxes at once, to save weekly trips to the pharmacy :arghh:
