I'm just under 11st now due to my highs. Diagnose 2014 I was 11 and a half on protein shakes heavy weight lifting then. I've stop taking protein shakes because of itYeah but 11 stone weightlifters shouldn't be having BG's that high! If you don't mind me asking how old are you and were you overweight on T2 diagnosis? BG's can rise a bit because of illness or infection etc but not normally by the amount you say. On your weight and fitness T2 insulin resistance should be quite small so the insulin your pancreas produces should mop up the glucose quite happily.
I'm 38 also I when diagnose I was 22mml now I'm 29 reading.I'm just under 11st now due to my highs. Diagnose 2014 I was 11 and a half on protein shakes heavy weight lifting then. I've stop taking protein shakes because of it
Thanks I willOK, so first I'm not a medical professional just someone with a lot of experience of all types of DB because my family is full of it (T1, T1.5 & T2). The blunt answer is something is up and you need to get it investigated. A 38 year old 11 stone weightlifter does not fit the profile for T2 in any shape or form. I really would make an urgent appointment with your GP and mention LADA T1.5 and ask for a GAD or c-peptide test. Take someone along to back you up if you are worried about confronting a reticent GP. The test will rule in or rule out T1.5 and at least start you on the process of finding out whats up. If you get nowhere you could try the A&E route or you could ask the GP to refer you to an endocrinologist at your local diabetes clinic or hospital. Once a hospital doctor gets you your GP must follow the instructions they give. In the meantime I'd cut down on the starchy foods as I and others are suggesting but I wouldn't think of this as the long term solution.
In the meantime keep posting updates on here as there are loads of people here who can offer you great advise.
Take care
Steve
Wow now that's something new so you can hypos at 14 or 13 due to brain thinks it's low is there anyway I can look this up online ?Yeah many people get that and its likely to be because your sugars have run high for a while and your brain now thinks low is in the teens! Reduce your starchy foods slowly and hopefully you'll be ok. Any worries just go to the docs.
I have always wash my hands morning read has been 13.5 for 3 and half weeks now after porridge 20 ketones sign. before infection and antibiotics i was 8 in morning highest without meds. What's going on
Some meters advise you to check for ketones when your BGs are high - I think that's what was meant here.do you really mean KETONES or blood sugars? If yu have a 20 ketones reading you need to see doctor urgently ie accident andemergency . I suspect you mean blood sugars?
Sorry blood sugar was 20 with a ketones? Flashing. I went to hospital and got tested for ketones and found nothing. That's why I think it's fake readings I also test the meter to make sure it's working ok and use other metersdo you really mean KETONES or blood sugars? I feel like **** and I want it to endYes they're called false hypos but that doesn't mean you don't end up feeling ****. I honestly don't know if they're as dangerous as real one's but I guess if you're driving or something like that they could be.
I was told when I went on to Metformin that the dose I was prescribed (4x500 per day ) was the maximumthat could be prescribed.Try testing before you eat your porridge.
Well currently I'm on 6 x 500 and was told that was the max.I was told when I went on to Metformin that the dose I was prescribed (4x500 per day ) was the maximumthat could be prescribed.
Mate you have a lot of things going on some are recognisable and some not. You really need to get some specialist advice so get yourself to the docs and if you don't get anywhere ask to be referred to the local clinic.I've come across Candida which you can get after long course of antibiotics which can cause diabetes but if you have already can It give you highs ?
